attn: northern nj (bergen cty) ppl: where to get oil changed

I went to Paramus Honda today and found out they charge $29 for an oil change. Ridiculous!

So where's a good cheap place to get your oil changed in Bergen County? I live in upper Bergen County (Ridgewood, Paramus, Allendale, SaddleRiver, Montvale, Old Tappan, Ramsey).. anywhere around there is good.

Thanks.
-Brian.

My house! Hahaha, kinda kidding there, kinda not.
Don't ever go to Paramus Honda. I won't say what I've seen but trust me just don't go there.
As for your oil change.....why not do it yourself?

I bought my car new from Paramus Honda 3 weeks ago (I already have 2700 miles on it) and their service department was nice and all but the car was not delivered well. It wasn't new smelling nor was it as perfect as I thought it would be. There was 50 miles on it when got it.

Crap.. well, my sister has an Accord and she plans to go there for her first oil change, since she bought the car there. Is there a reason that I should avoid Paramus Honda?

I personally would never buy a car there.. some salesguy by the name of Kadir told me to go get my mommy and come back. This was when I was shopping for my sister's car.. so the next day, I went back with my sister and bought a car.. from a different, nicer salesman. The ridiculous thing was, I got home that day and found a card in the mail from Paramus Honda, signed by Kadir, thanking me for dropping by.

I figure with the cost of oil, filter, the labor is gonna come out to $8-10 bucks, depending where I go. I'd rather just pay that and get it done, simply because I dont want to spend the money to get the things necessary, risk causing a mess in my driveway, or spend the time figuring things out (although I should).

I heard Jiffy Lube is now almost $30 as well, and I've heard stories where they almost wreck the cars.

I was looking to get my OEM rear under skirt done there. I can't do that myself because I don't want to take the bumper off myself. But now I'm looking for a good body shop/pimp up your car place that's somewhere either Central or Northern Jersey. I don't know of any place though.

If you buy a car from Paramus Honda ask for Murphy (there should only be one there).

You can do the OEM rear in a freaking parking lot, it's that easy. Takes about 30 minutes. Removing the rear is NOT hard at all.

Question...who changes the oil on your Supra? And why not take the lude there (if it's not a Toyota dealer)?

Oh and I'm emailing this post to my friend who works there to see what his reaction is.

Hey Joon,

When I went into Paramus Honda for the Accord for my sister, we bought from this Korean guy named John. Actually, there was this old guy there who was about to help us with the sale, but my mother wanted to speak to someone who spoke Korean. I dont know why it mattered though, since my sister was buying the car and speaks English fluently.

As for the Supra, the oil changes are done at Prestige Toyota. I dont know why I take it there.. I guess it's just because I bought it there. But I like how the oil changes are done in a separate area where I can keep an eye on my car. Parkway Toyota of Englewood Cliffs tried to rip me off when I had to get something done (quoted me a lot less on the phone to reel me in, then quoted a higher price when my car was there), Toyota of Hackensack took my car out for a "test drive" after I had them fix the headlight wiring harness.. makes no sense for a test drive, if you ask me. At Prestige, they joke around about taking the car out, and I'm sure if given the opportunity they would, but since I'm there and watching (I dont go to the waiting room), they don't.

I just bought my Prelude, so I'm trying to find a place I can go. What about Mahwah Honda, or D&C Honda? Guys at D&C seem like jerks, and Mahwah seems stuck up. I guess this is typical of dealerships when you're a younger male dressed in regular clothes.

Also Joon, where do you take your car for bodywork? I want to get a rear spoiler put on, and dont want to take risks with the drilling by myself (as I heard it was really difficult to do).

Thanks.
-Brian.

D&C did my body work when my car was hit. D&C is cool with me because they kinda know me as "the guy with Prelude who gave us photocopied pages out of the Helm to show us exactly where the problem is". My car will be there this Thursday actually.

Drilling the holes for a spoiler is no harder than drilling holes in a wall provided you have someone to hold the trunk steady while you drill. If you really don't feel up to it I would just pay someone else to do it.

Why not change the oil yourself though? I don't change my oil when the weather's cold just because....well, it's cold. Not hard at all.

Don't Drill

I was just reading the threads and I just wanted to add a couple of cents. Please don't drill the holes for your spoiler. It is not an easy thing to do at all. I considered doing the same until I spoke with a friend in the body work business. The sheet metal that cars are made of these days is very thin. He said half of putting a spoiler on is lay out which has to be done exactly. Apparently, it is cleaner to use a very high rpm drill with a newer bitand a very very minimal amount of pressure. He said that any more pressure then the drill itself will leave a volcano of a dent with a hole in the middle. Find someone you trust. Best thing to do is ask around. See someone with some nice body work just ask. Most love to tell you...
I'm not an expert but just trying to help

A volcano effect around the hole won't matter with the OEM spoiler....its base will cover it anyway. Layout isn't too hard either since when you buy the spoiler it should come with a template on where to drill. There are markings under the trunk lid where you're supposed to drill straight from the factory anyway (last time I checked).
I wouldn't recommend anyone try this install if they're not even 90% sure that they can do it though.
Spoilers......bah.....who needs em anyway? That's for you ODL

Are they a small faction of police officers or something?
