ok well i have been practicing on racing. Well i keep getting the same result. ill be crusing around 80mph then when ready to race, ill put it on SS mode and downshift to 3rd and redline it to around 7400 and switch to 4th, when i am in 3rd it pulls like a motha but then when i hit 4th, theres no vtec and feels so much slower. I have had many results where i smoked some cars in 3rd then when i shift, they just start catching up till i hit vtec in 4th. How do u guys race ur SS in top end? i love racing from 2nd gear cuz its crazy, i could occasionaly keep it in vtec till 3rd and 4th its just go down. Some please help me cuz it's getting on my nerves when im beating them and they catch up and im like wat da.
Since the car is mostly all top end you are gonna get that, just wait till it gets up in speed and you will be on your way, I don't think there is much you can do although I may be wrong. You could get different gears or change your gearing but than you lose the top end.

yep, use a vafc and set the vtec engagement to 4500rpm's. disengagement at 4300rpm's. much better mid to high rpm performance especially around 3700-5500rpm's, there is significant boost in power.

I rarely do it anymore (probably cuz of the 2 points on my license), but when I used to do occasional top end runs, of course on an empty highway past midnight at least, my 4th gear vtec was still pretty strong. If I'm going for speed, I take every gear to 8k indicated . It doesn't seem necessary to do it in 2nd and 3rd gear because they seem to drop into vtec range if you shift at redline, but yeah, 8k shifts seem to be the most powerful. I might be wrong though.
well i rev 3rd gear to about 7400, rite before redline and when i am in 4th i think its about 5000, not too positive though, would da vtec controller really help as much? i mean would i be able to stay in vtec?
I go past redline and shift right before fuel cut off. I think it stays in VTEC for the 3rd to 4th shift that way. Not sure, never really paid attention to that, too busy seeing wats ahead of me =P

I use to have that problem when racing on the freeway. I'd shift at redline and it'd drop to about 5,000 in 4th gear and lose VTEC, then it'd finally gain it back.
I got a VAFC...problem solved. No more disengaging and it pulls strong all the way up. It's definitely worth the money, just make sure you get it dyno tuned to get the most out of it!
yea like i could do so much things to my engine but im just worried about da warrentee and thats why i dont wanna mod to much. I have heard that vtec controller automatically void warrentee

in that case, pulleys and cam gears would help also

ok i dont know about you guys, but i have done quite a few top end runs. When shifting to 4th from 3rd at an indicated 8000rpm on the tach drop right to about ~5300rpm. Then about 5 secs after shifting, the rpm drops more. I dont know for what reasons. Im thinking either the secondary intake runners close, or the TQ convertor does something funny, i dont know. But the rpm drops about 300 rpm. Its a very noticeable drop. But once the start pulling again, ive been to an indicated 145mph.

This is what I have wondered for years and years.....
Once you hit fourth gear....it doesn't matter if its at wide open throttle or just cruising around, the RPM's drop 200-300... at WOT, you definately LOSE power.... and like you said.... it is VERY noticeable....
