assist me to assist someone picking up a Prelude

I'm curious for second, third, fourth, etc and so on .... opinions about a buy.

Me and my friend were looking at a 98 base with 111k on the clock (for him). It's nordic mist with a pretty mint, leather interior. It was driven by a not too young / not too old woman and it was apparent that some bozo didn't drive the car.

Started her up cold, no smoke. Even though the engine looked horrible ( new england) the engine sounded as good as mine (which has 26k on the clock). Same thing after i took her for a spin, shifted beautifully and had no glitches that i could tell.

Now the cons ....

> The guy at the shop selling it said the woman sold it to him because of something with the tranny. He had his "tranny guy" fix it for him but he "didn't know" exactly what he did. (again, the tranny shifted fine almost exactly like mine; didn't slip, grind, have a hard time, etc)

> He has no idea if there was a timing belt service, so that will have to be done ASAP along with a water pump.

> The car pulls slightly to the right and will need a balance and alignment.

> There are a few cosmetic issues, specifically with rust. There is rust around the keyhole to the trunk and rust starting at honda's retarded idea of jamming rubber on the rear wheel wells. (both of which i'll fix).

KBB is asking $6135 for the car. I'm thinking of offering the guy $4800 at first and working my way up. Considering the immediate work that will need to be done.

Opinions? suggestions? insults? compliments?
