Anyone change out their ATTS fluid?

I checked the service manual and looked like it involved just removing the drain plug and draining the oil and replacing it with 1 quart Automatic Transmission Fluid. There was a lengthy "inspection" procedure which involves running the car at 31 mph and observing the flow from the check bolt. Don't know if this is necessary. There's no dipstick so how are you supposed to know if you put the right amount in? Is it a little less than 1 quart or more?

For engine oil it states 5.1 quart capacity, but I put in a little less than 5 quarts and it's falls close to the top marker on the dipstick. How will you know the right amount for the ATTS unit? I was wondering if anyone has changed the fluid themselves and can give any more insight into the job.

I've changed it and never did that 31mph thing. I dont trust running the car on jackstands and I bet your ass they dont do that at the dealer either. It's been about 15k since I changed it...which was at 30k and it seems to be fine. No ATTS lights so I guess it wasn't an issue. As for the oil I just did a change and 5.2 quarts with a filter change gets me to the bottom mark on the dipstick. Weird?

What about the fluid? Just any old type of ATF will do? Is there a viscosity rating for ATF or are they all the same?

my mechanic put regular ATF in mine..
but in the spring, i'm gonna dump in some Honda ATF.

during 2 separate occasions, the ATTS light did come on during hard usage.
1. during an autox,
2. on an off-ramp...

both right handers, at about the same rpms. *shrugs*
when it failed both times, the car studdered a bit. i dunno what to make of that.
