The only ****ty part is the damn header getting oil on it, but its easily fixed by covering it with a rag prior to starting. And oiling the gasket before installing the new filter is a MUST. I learned the hard way twice on my civic and integra. Oh yeah, and i swear they use an impact gun to seat the filters at the honda dealerships

I think so too.. I took my wife's old civic to get the oil changed at the dealership and they screwed the oil lug, filter and oil cap on soo tight, that I couldn't get it off. I took it to jiffy lube and it took 3 guys to take each one off.

It sounds like everyone removes the filter from the top. I've never done that before. Although, that's probably because I have access to a lift. It's been pretty easy for me to remove the filter from down under. Maybe you guys should jack the car up on stands and do it that way.

You can only do it from the top if you have an SH.

No major problems here, just don't wet the new filter with new oil using your finger. I sliced up my finger doin that and I didn't know till afterwards. There are some sharp edges in there. The one thing I didn't like about when I change my oil is that I can't fit a socket wrench to take of the drain plug. It won't fit for me. I end up using an 11/16 regular wrench to take it off which isn't that bad, but I would rather use a socket wrench.

The ATTS unit blocks the use of a socket on the SH model. And use a 17mm wrench, a 11/16 will eventually strip your drain bolt. None of that SAE nonsense on our cars . . . . .

I got sick of replacing drain bolts, and bought a good 6 pt. wrench just for that.

I ve tried to take my oil filter off 88 lude no way on earth.
Bought some of those rubber loop oil wrench and no way on earth can you even get it on.
Its just stuck
The last guy who changed it had to put a screw driver in it (he told me he has never done it in his life before) and then must of cranked it on real hard out of spite.
I have changed it in the past and it cam of fairly easily.
But this time no way
Is it ok to jab it with a screw driver or is there another option?
or do I get some other guy to do it?

It didn't seem to be like that much of a pain from underneath. I'll tell you the biggest pain in a** is changing the fuel filter.

Lol. I took my Prelude to 2 different places to try and have the fuel filter removed - my buddy owns a high performance car shop, and after he spent 2+ hours trying and said "fvck it" I took it to the Honda dealership...who also said "fvck it." Literally.

I know Honda says it is "good for life" but I wanted to change it just for peace of mind I guess...but it doesn't look like that will every happen.
