Any one know what sensor this is?

I was wondering if someone could tell me what sensor this is circled in red on my head. The picture was taken from someone else on Google but is perfect for my situation.
Thanks.

^^ yes, it's the engine coolant temp sensor.

The smaller one to the right of it is the engine coolant temp sending unit

They all pass through the ECU first. I'm not sure where they go/control from there.
