Another Idle Problem. yes i searched, i just have questions.

i searched through lots of pages and have some questions.

my current problem:
Car starts right up everytime, but in the morning, first start up of the day, it takes about 5-10 mins to warm up and idle to drop down to normal rpm. no biggie. heres the problem. upon coming to a stop, the rpm drops down, but instead of stopping around 700 is goes down to 0-100, then back to around 7. occasionally it will go down-up-down-up, or even worse, stall out completely. bottom line: my idle is effed.

questions:
yes i read about the EGR and IACV and plan on cleaning them this weekend just for safe measure. i'm not too sure it will solve the problem, worth a shot tho. the plugs dont look too bad either. as far as vaccum leaks, everything SEEMS fine, but that doesnt mean there still something i overlooked. the car runs nice and smooth while in gear, turbo spools great, the car doesnt have any overheating issues, no mechanical problems i'm aware of, only an idle issue.

so my question, are there any other things you guys would recommend doing this weekend in addition to the egr and iacv?

i'm open to any advice/suggestions so fire away. if theres any more info needed, let me know. otherwise thanks for tryna help me, interested to see what responses i get.

sounds exactly like what mine was doing for awhile...

Mine idled perfectly fine during warm up. When it warmed up it would fall to 0-100 and go back up to or around normal idle, then jump around sometimes from there. And it did get to the point where i would stall out every now and then.

I replaced the spark plugs, flushed my fuel injectors, and I pulled off my IACV and cleaned it with carbon cleaner and it solved the problem. My idle has been perfect ever since.

I agree. Every so often the minor tune-up items on the checklist need to be done before having to do the whole timing ordeal. Reason I respond is that I've heard rumors of spark plug positioning having an effect on performance. Is this true?
