Another H23A swap

So I have just spent the last month or so putting an H23A blue top and a 5speed swap. Some information I did Trans Swap: Converting P5M Auto ECU to P5M Manual ECU Operation to my ecu. On the H23A I installed a USDM oil pump in with the two timing gears off my h22a4 with the TDC and CKP sensor, I am also using the dizzy from the H22A4. I stole the oil injectors off the H22A4 and put them in the H23A, I used the intake manifold from the H22A4. After everything was done I got two CEL codes, P1362(no signal TDC) and P0500(VSS) it was running in limp mode so wouldn't rev passed 3k. For the TDC sensor I followed flow chart on 11-88 of the manual, everything checked out so I think I might of fried my ECU. I brought it to Honda they told me their diagnostic computer wasn't working on my car and my car is "too modified" for them to work on then politely told me to F-off and bring it somewhere else. So I figured I'd drive back to my college apartment from my fathers house where I was doing the swap, after driving for an hour on I4 the engine just cut out. I tried putting in 4th and let the clutch out to start it but nothing I think my ECU went from limp mode to cut power to fuel mode since I haven't been able to start it since. I think I might get AEM stand alone ECU, you guys think this will fix it. Sorry for the rambling any feedback is helpful.

you cannot run the h23 with the h22a4 ecu, it runs like garbage.
After much research, i found the best way is to use standalone. I personally use the AEM series2 however there are others on the maret that are workable. I liike th einterface of the AEM unit myself.

Well i guess that comes down to what your definitiona of good price is, i mean for what it is the AEM unit is a good price, well when compared to a motec m400 unit or the like.

Well yes comparative to Motec it's a good price but If I could find one for 800 I'd be happy.

Hows that heat wrap working out for you? I have read that wrapping the header is a bad idea because it causes premature rusting of the pipes due to trapped moisture.

The heat wrap does help quite a bit when it comes to keeping temps down but after I removed mine I didn't notice any extra rust although it was only on for a year or so on a hytech rep header. I'd re wrap it if it weren't such a pain to take that header out.

Well I just put the wrap on but my headers have ceramic coating, I've been told to start the wrap from the bottom and working up so if it gets wet it should just run down and instead getting stuck where it is overlapped.

Yeah I saw that but I'd prefer to stay obd2 plus its a used discontinued model, I found a series 2 for just short of a grand I'm thinking about getting.

You can go into any auto parts store and buy DEI exhaust wrap which is pretty popular with the muscle car guys, works great.

I had my aem cai ceramic coated in and out; that worked like a charm. Done at Impact Coatings in Edmonton.

My mechanic also just finished doing my h23a swap. Wow, it's so nice. I think the AEM pullies, head, and exhaust really helped. I really like how the vtech engage in earlier than the h22 and type s. I also had my mechanic swapped over the type s pistons. He also turned the car. Man, it pulls really nice. Loving it.

What are you running for ECU, did you swap over to USDM dizzy and oil pump or did you go OBD1?

Yeah but they normally only have the fiberglass wrap at auto parts stores. The titanium/lava rock wrap its supposed to be better for higher temps. I personally found it easier to apply and less itchy.

i dont have one ready made for the h23vtec but i can send you an h22 oem map that you can then change to suit the h23vtec.

Once i get the engine cleaned and reassembled i will install it then start work on tuning, at that point i can then possibly offer help. I assume you had bought the sereis2 not the old one.
