Another disappointment. A/C SUCKSSSSS!!! and its HOT in here~
First time using A/C during the summer since I got my prelude.
Wow, I heard that preludes don't have the best A/C, but this A/C SUCKS.
I mean, it sucks pretty damn bad.
Im guessing I might have to recharge it. because it shoots out warm A/C.
Another problem is, when its on full blast... its REALLY weak.
I had Honda Accord V6 before, and A/C on that thing really kicks ass.
I thought it would be at least similar, but oh wow.
Is it supposed to be that weak? I really don't see a huge difference between
the 3rd bar and 4th bar.
I just hope I don't have to replace the A/C unit or anything..
It also stinks like hell, I probably have to replace those micron A/C filter..
*SIGH*. Again.. I am never buying a used car again.
or at least not from my lude's previous owner.
You can have my AC condenser and whatever else parts you need if you want. They are virgin and have never been used. Im pulling the motor on the lude in a week and wont have any use for that AC junk.....
i heard you HAVE to use it often or else, like you said it will break down. First time in a while may have really killed it and is not functional anymore.
my friend told me to use it now while it kills a little gas than to pay for it later in the future.
I would take it to a shop to make sure there isn't some leak in the system. Also if it isn't blowing that hard, did you consider maybe the fan is jammed? Or the Evaporator? Just some thoughts. I just replaced the entire A/C in my fiance's Jeep GC and found a wad of leaves in the evaporator causing it to rot out.
My Acura's AC is nice and chilly in the hot Nevada desert

May just need to recharge the system. There's some stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart that is used for you A/C...I can't rememeber the name, but it comes in a can and you put it through you A/C lines. Try that out and see if that helps
Mine's always been ice cold and the heater is toasty hot The manual recommends running the AC for at least 10 seconds every now and then to keep it working correctly. I usually run it after a car wash to clear out any moisture as well.

You could just buy a small recharge kit to see if it helps. You can get them at like wal-mart or any auto store. It's called R-134a. Buy a small one to see if it helps at all. If it does then buy some more. I would also buy one that shows you the pressure so that you do not overcharge the system.
bah, just read the helms and buy the stuff and do it yourself. I would first check for a bind in the cable linkage or something like that. The cable is above the front passengers footrest.
I live in New Orleans, and after a few minutes mine works like a champ. On the highway, I usually have to turn it down, no matter how hot it is outside. Maybe I'm just lucky. I do turn it on every week or so in the winter to keep everything running smoothly because I had read that somewhere. Seems to do the trick.

use the built in 2-60 air conditioner that comes standard on our cars (2 windows down, 60 miles an hour ). I live in north Florida where it's HOT most of the time and I've never had any trouble. Air blows cold and hard. I think they might be right about having to run it to keep it working correctly. Hope you get it working. My 95's AC started heating up and it almost killed me. BTW, mp57078, that humidity kills doesn't it. I've been to Vegas where it's dry heat and I tell you, I'd rather be in Vegas at 110 than in FL at 90 for one reason...
Yea it is easy to recharge the AC unscrew the cap off the AC line and you will see a little metal thing sticking up. Put a shop towel over it (so the stuff doenst blow on you) then push the metal thing down with a screw driver till air stops blowing out. (yes it is illegal to do but the tree huggers will get over it )Then get 2 of the regular size bottles of R134a and screw then on to the line with the car on and the AC on full blast. After that your AC should be nice and cold.

I live around Dallas and don't really use the a/c unless it's 95 degrees or hotter. And even then, if my car has been in the shade all day, I don't really need it. Guess I'm quite tolerant to heat.
