Amsoil ATF Or Honda Dw-1 ATF?

Well I own a 1997 SS Prelude that has had the transmission rebuilt once and it was before I was the owner of the car. This was done around a year ago and I have only owned the car for about a month and a half now. To be proactive in maintaining the transmission, I decided to do 1 drain and fill with Amsoil Universal ATF to see if I noticed or felt any improvement in the operation, sound, and shifting quality.
Good: The transmission seems to shift smoother at higher rpms/higher gears & Torque shudder seems to have been reduced slightly.
Bad: Cold shifts or shifts before the transmission is up to normal operating temperature seem to have a over gliding feeling and then the torque converter seems to cutoff harder then normal. ( This could be due to running a mix of the Amsoil and the unknown ATF that was put in during the rebuild )

What I am trying to decide now is:
Should I go ahead and do 2 more drain a fills with the Amsoil ATF?
Or
Do a 3x3 with the New Honda Dw-1 ATF?

Has anybody done a 3x3 with the Dw-1 and what differences did you notice in how the tranny performed???

Thanks!

Honda does not recommend use of any other trans fluid, use the DW-1, if you lived in Jax I could hook you up for like $1 a qt since I work at the dealer, need to get rid of some extras.

If you are willing to ship it, I will buy a case of 12. Give me a quote on shipping and we got a deal. 34747

I really don't think I have that many, I'm not sure either if it will fix your slipping problem, you might want to either consider a 5 speed conversion or getting rid of the car. I only have it because parts gives 4 qts any time we do a service and some cars only take 3 so I get an extra every so often.

Amsoil is fine for the Lude. I use Amsoil MTF (as do many other Luders) with no adverse effects, infact my gear box is very smooth with it. I have never had brand new Honda MTF before so I cant compare both.

^We're talking about ATF, not MTF. Most aftermarket ATF's are too thick for a Honda trans.
