are you trying to remove the pulley from the shaft? make sure your belts are tight and bust out the socket; the belt should hold the pulley still while you attempt to unscrew. not much else i can say. i have not actually done it but this is what i would try first.

I'm just replacing the old pulley. Apparently, the previous owner put in an after market alternator pulley, which is bigger than the factory pulley. Because of the size difference, is spinning slower, causing my battery to not charge as efficiently. I've never attempted to change it myself before but was told it was a simple job.

Just back off the belt tension and unbolt it. It can't be too difficult to remove.

You might want to check the crank pulley and power steering pump pulley to see if an underdrive pulley has been installed there as well.

^^^Yup. If he put a bigger pulley on the Alternator then more than likely the crank and/or p/s pulley is smaller. May have to change them all back to factory.

As far as Alternator Pulley just use an impact gun to take out the nut holding the pulley on

I got the same problem with my 93 si wich also has a full underdrive pulley set on it at an idle the car runs off the battery ,put a voltmeter on it and the slternator is throwing out 8-9 volts . yet at 1200-1500 rpm i got around 12.5 or more volts . went down to Pull-a-Part snagged a used alternator just incase it is a bad alternator but everyone here at the shop is thinking the pulley ill let you all know what happens in the next day or two ill try the used alternator with the underdrive and then the stock one .
