Aftermarket Prosport tach jumping.

I installed a Prosport premium series tachometer this weekend and it jumps right before it shifts. Heavy on the throttle or light on the throttle it doesn't matter. Stock tach doesn't jump but I know aftermarket is a lot more sensitive and accurate. I have a sissy stick unfortunately not sure if this matters with the tach not performing properly but since ss screws up just about everything else I thought I would throw it out there.

My troubleshooting leads me to believe it is either the blue wire I attached it to has too weak of a signal behind the gauge cluster and is causing a baD signal. Too fix I would just run to the negative Side of the coil.

My other guess is that the dizzy/coil is going out which seems to be common.
If this is my problem anybody have a solution as to the best aftermarket to replace it with?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well many reasons.

One because aftermarket is way more accurate then stock.

Two because I got it for free.

Three because even though I might put it into manual and the car might shift itself if it hits the rev limiter for a certain period of time doesnt mea
I want to hit my rev limiter every time I step on it.

Four because I plan on boosting and putting a 5sp in it.

Five because the PO had a huge hole in the dash where he had originally put something so rather then spend time and money getting it replaced I put the tach over it.

And lastly because I can.

If anybody else has some real answers as to what the problem might be I would appreciate.

What the **** is up with this spam? Who asked for your opinion on his car or how he should spend money?

Who says your advice is wise?
You're no better than the spam posts on car insurance or bank accounts in the Congo.
I try and stay out of threads I cannot help, but dude, you blatantly spammed your opinion for literally no reason other than you felt like it.

^^ haha well a good question got 2 valid responses.

And too late to sell and save my money. I've already dropped about 10k in her. H22a swap plus transmission rebuild. Didn't know about the ss problems and would have been a lot better off putting in a 5sp but I will save up and eventually get it done. It's got about 1500 in suspension, painted hot rod flat black, projectors with HIDs, konig rims, E/H/I, seals, gaskets, swapped leather interior, odds and ends that were more time consuming then expensive. All that time is priceless. My theory is if you start a project you better finish it or you will eat a lot of it but short selling it. Besides I love my car and know for the most part everything that is wrong with it. You never know what you might be buying And what you might have to be replacing 6 months down the road. I'd rather fix what I got and see it through till the end. Then I might sell and start another project.

As for your tachometer, well teh surging tack could befrom a few didfrfernt thigns, first you have any cels? second what kdin fo shape is your tranmsission? Third is th wiring all original or has t been ahcked up and modifed? What other mods are you running ecu wise? hip? standalone?

The wiring was bad due to the PO installing some aftermarket things he had know idea how to. I completely took out the dash and checked, soldered, replaced everything that wasn't right after stripping everything he did. As far as the pics I will post if I someone can to me how from my iPhone. Is this site iPhone forum compatible? I know preludepower is but we aren't there lol. As far as transmission. When the car is cold it slip after the tach gets done jumping all over the place and it warms up it shifts smooth as a babies but. That's what leads me to believe it's the coil. I know the wiring is good and previous to the transmission slip the tach will indicate whether it's going to or not by if it jumps all over the place or stays steady. It doesn't junk while slipping but for a good two seconds before it slips it will jump all the way from 2000 to 7500 and anywhere in between. Once it shifts it will steadily climb to around 2000 again and then start jumping again. I don't think it's my transmission. As bad as they are I just had it professionally rebuilt like 5k ago and has had royal purple with Lucas since and I know they sent the TC to one of the well known places.

Also no cels and yes the light does work it just come on for a bad 02 sensor but I fixed and it went off.

Also no computer type upgrades.

Well got a chance to take a look this weekend and was almost positive it was my cap and rotor due to the fact that I got a shock when checking for loose plug wires. So I was taking it off and going some oil in the cap which indicates a bad cam seal that Honda says can't be replaced. The only thing I can do is order a whole new distributor. So any suggestions on wether to go oem or is it safe to go aftermarket?
