?? AEM Pullies Install

I bought a used set of the AEM pullies. It came w/ the Pullies and belts, however it didn't come w/ the replacement nut. Is that replacement nut absolutely neccesary for the install or can I just use the stock nut it replaces?

You need it because I believe that the stock one is not long enough to thread properly through the AEM pulley.

It's a 1" long nut... may be hard to find at a hardware store.

The only purpose of the longer nut is to allow tightening of the lower nut from behind the pump rather than from the front as it was installed from the factory. The nut needs to be on the back in order to clear the pulley, IIRC. I'm sure you can rig something up without using the AEM supplied nut.

We just broke the tab off the original and we were able to use it on mine. However I've since rounded it off so I'm calling AEM today to get that piece.

Bump.

I bought the PS pulley and belt second hand and did not recieve any hardware. I had trouble tightening that lower bolt, my wrench would just barely fit in there and would ocassionaly get caught in between the pulley and pump. Now I can do like Mark did and break the tab off of the nut. But how do you keep the head of the bold from turning. Does AEM supply you with a special bolt with a head that keeps it from turning?

I think I had enough room to get a wrench in there Paul.

Fixed it!!

Took everything back apart. Broke the tab off of the stock long nut. Held the bolt head still with a wrench, while tightening the nut with a std socket and wrachet. I had to be careful what angle the wrench on the bolt head was at. If it turned too far it would try to get stuck in between the pump housing and pulley. And there is just enough room in the back to get a socket and wratchet on that nut.

Just the Power Steering one. I don't feel like having my lights dim @ idle or have the AC go down sitting in summertime traffic.

It's nice. The engine feels like it has more torque. It's most noticable between 2-3k. But there is a slight pick up on the top end too.

Have you actually seen the effects of that? I don't think its too much, especially if you don't have a huge system.

Old user spanish ricer did a dyno before and after with these; 7whp with both pullies.

These have been one of the best mods I have done. The light dimming is noticable if you rev to 4k in Neutral. Most notably, windows are a bit slower. Worth the power gain, that depends on how pickey you are though.

Paul do the other one too, seriously. The only issue is prolonged idling can cause charging issues and yes the windows are slightly slower but just give it some revs when you put them up and you're all set.
