AEM Pulley Problem

I just installed my AEM pulleys last night and I was really impressed and pleased with the gains I got. But the problem is, after installing and driving home from my friend's house, I started to hear a noise from the engine bay. When I got home, I opened the hood with the engine still running and from the pulleys came a somewhat buzzing noise that pulsed. The buzzing kinda sounded like (don't laugh) NNNNNNNNhhhhhhhnnnnnnnhhhhhNNNNNNNhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnn nNNNNNNNNhhhhhhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnhhhhhhNN NNhhhhnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhh.

I was thinking I tightened the pulley too hard, but when I untorqued my bolt for the P/S pulley and retorqued it, the sound was still there. What could be the problem anybody? Thanks in advanced!!!

I can't think of anything that would make it make any noise that's different. Belts touching anything at all?

I am not sure if this is it but this should be considered. When you have 2 different parts making sound/ sound waves, they combine to make one wave with a higher and lower peak and troff sp. Hence the up and down sound. One example is if you are ever driving next to a car with an exhaust and your and theirs mix you can here the resonence. This is very hard to explain be typing. Any one know what i am talking about that can explain it better.

I have the same problem and sound like the car is surging up and down. I just pulled the 7.5 fuse under the hood to reset the ECU and it goes away. I have this problem EVERY time I pull the car up on ramps to change the oil now and it goes away with an ECU reset NEVER had the noise before Pullies though. also I hope you DID NOT put the washer behind the P/S pulley like I did. Bought my pullies USED -had NO instuctions-ended up having to rebuild my P/S pump trying to fix the noise and it ended up just being the Washer causing the pulley to be outta line

So if the washer isn't in there just try resetting the ECU-that works for me.

You should always rest after any mod to see the MOST hp initially-then good ole OBD 2 does it job

Doh! I did put the washer between the pulley and the power steering unit. Where is it suppose to go?!?? Was I not suppose to use it? Cause when I placed the pulley onto the p/s unit without the pulley, it did not spin smoothly free hand, but when I put the washer on, it spun smoothly freehand. DOH!

I HAD to remove the washer and it LOOKED like the P/S and ALT pullies would rub but they don't Gabe over at Hondaprelude.com has put the AEM Pullies on both 4th gen and 5th gen and he told me it was for just 4th gen.......But the guy I bought 'em from said he had no problem with the washer being in there. He had a 99 base I have a 97.

I took it out and now no problems at all.
