Whatup,
So I've had this intake for about 2-3 years now and this passed weekend I went up to N.Y and on my way back I pop open the hood and the damn intake is broken! I think it's the by-pass valve that broke I can't remember correctly but how in the world could that have broken! Not only that! One of my HID's is out! And I have no clue how to fix that either, I posted up a thread about the HID's before and I played around with it! But no clue, so now I have 1 HID out, and a freakin broken intake! not a good way to start off the year!
Maybe I should just buy a new one? or How much more effective are the new AEM V2's? or is there another brand out there with better power for the same price as the AEM?
yeah definitely need some pix to see what happened...
how the hell did bypass section broke?
I used to have AEM CAi w/ bypass... those things hold up very good it almost pisses you off when you want to take them apart...
as far as HID burned out, I feel ya.. mine just burned out after 6 months of use..
now I have no left side headlight... been driving it like that for weeks. -_-
If its just the bypass valve that broke, you can probably replace it via AEM distributors.
If you didn't do anything specific to your intake after you got your intake(2~3 years i guess), then you should contact AEM and see what they are going to say about it. They might even replace it for free, but I doubt it since you used it for so long.
Do you have any more detailed pix? I see some mad pimping photoshop in that pic.. any pic that shows the actual damage?
Concerning the hids.. make sure u check the relays (a small black cube shaped thing where wires go in and out).. my driver's side hid went out.. I intially thought it was the bulb or ballast.. but it turned out to be a rusted relay instead.. i changed the relay and now it works fine.. somehow water got into it i guess.. make sure u wrap these things with electrical tape
