AEM CAI w/ bypass value

I just got an AEM CAI and a bypass value....bear with me this is all kinda new to me. To my understanding I have to cut the CAI pipe to place the bypass valve. Am I right, guys? If so....at what length should I place the valve?

close to the throttle body, check out aem site, they got a pic up there.

or actually dont bother puting it on at all, i have one, and frankly it was waste of time/money in my opinion.

If i remember it says to install it along the Throttle Body.. Which most are closer to the throttle body. here is a pic of mine..
