AEM CAI's ain't that expensive...about $200 you can get it anywhere.. i got it for $170 with shipping and everything.. easy as 123456789 to install... (took me little bit to figure out how to get the stock ones out ) but... i don't think it's worth asking your dad for just intake... ask something bigger!! like 18" rims or somthing (tell him bigger tire = better mileage)

Originally posted by BosHaus but if it improves gas mileage, i can calculate how long it'll take for the mod to pay for itself (he'd like that)
If I had to go through that much just to get a mod, I'd definitely be rollin' bone stock. Save up your money and just buy it yourself. Why ask? If you can afford it, and you want it, get it.

i would be buying it, since he paid for a little under half of the car, i have to get his approval for eveything i do to it.
Pretty much anything you do to the Lude is non-cost effective, and won't really improve anything other than performance, and if you have to impress your dad with the mods ability, my guess is, no matter how you put it to him, he'll say "no".
My suggestion is to put you money towards paying him off, and then do what you want to do to your car.

dam...that sucks... hey how often does he look under the hood tho... my dad never does... (first of all, i moved out and i'm supporting myself! ) he doesn't even know i drop the car ( at least not yet). hey if you want it, Just DO IT
i have AEM CAI... i haven't noticed any changes on gas mileage... matter a fact, it might have dropped... since i love that sound.. i just abuse it.. i shouldn't be doing that.

...and now i'm carless
when i put something new on my car and my parents ask where it came from i'm jus like..."what are you talking about that was already there" or "I got it for free" haha
you should pay back your dad, when i baught my lude i saved up for two years and when i got out of high school in 97 i went down to honda and paid cash for mine so no one but me owns it and i donot answer to anyone when putting on performance parts, also i lost a little gas mileage with the intake and thats driving under normal conditions. Maybe you should use that money your going to spend on the intake and take a race school driving course and learn how to use the power and fully use the car you have now. If you donot race your car whats the purpose of doing any mods to it. Most people mod there car to look cool and they could have the same or more mods than i and i can still beat them. Your car is a awsome handling car and its got alot of power the best performance upgrade you can do is to learn how to use you car to the limit.
Thats sweet but you might want to get the boost upgrade kit, i drove a prelude with the JRS kit just installed on it and there was a difference but after her installed the boost upgrade, o my god was it fast as ****. I could not get the tires to hook up in first gear, i took it to the track and ran a 13.6 with it and all he had was the JRS and boost upgrade and a AEM and the DC header no exaust. I told him to gut out the cat.
