I just put mine in on Saturday - you're gonna love the sound if you are used to stock. What I used to help me a little was the NTPOG write-up. Only bad thing is that it's done w/ an iceman CAI, so all the stuff about not needing to remove the resonator and butterfly does not pertain to you - you HAVE to remove them both. It was the first time I have done any work under the hood of my Prelude, and it went rather well. If I had to do it again it would probably only take me 45min to 1 hr. The only thing you need to overcome is the fear of 'hurting' the car when taking out the resonator/butterfly. It's just a bunch of plastic crap, don't worry about messing it up. On the other hand, don't be ruthless. If you need any pointers after reading the other link, PM me - I'd be glad to help.

PS. make sure to have a 10mm socket-90% of the work is done with it.

Good luck !

Chris

It's easy except for the part when you have to cut and make the whole bigger in your engine comp.

dont cut the hole in the fender/engine bay

take off your front bumper(which your going to need to do)

and then take some pliers and bend the hole instead of cutting it...less permanent...no pointy edges

I just put my CAI in on friday. The 10mm socket wrench is the key to this. I used a hammer and banged the hole bigger, it was that easy. I've been driving around, and I love it, the sound is great. However, my gas mileage has gone to ****...does anyone know about this?

You do not need to take your bumper off. Just take out the right front sidemarker and unscrew the bolt right behind it holding up the resonator. All the other screws are easy to get to. I made my hole bigger using a combination of cutting and hammering and bending away with pliers. Don't take off your bumper unless you really want to add more work to your install

its alot easier to juss pull your bumper off by taking off maybe 9 easily located bolts and 6 clips then trying to lift the car up and pull the resonator through the splash guard...and then trying to stuff the filter in there and putting it onto the pipe and tightening that...
if you just take the bumper off...
the install becomes so much easier and it only takes maybe 5 minutes to take off the bumper

When I put mine in, I did it the way AsianPersuasion stated. It seemed like a PITA though, maybe removing the bumper is easier.

Wish I had thought of that. Fortunately, two days of grinding came out pretty good, along with a split vaccuum hose around the edge to look nice

I do too, instead I drilled and ripped out the hole in mine.

I was looking at the lightningmotorsports walk through and had a few questions. First, does the intake really stick that far down into the wheel well? Second, What do I use to protect and cover the area I am cutting/grinding out? This is my first mod, so I'm a little apprehensive about messing up.

First off, the Filter does sit that low in the bumper.. i was very surprised to see that 2, but when we installed it in my friends 95 SR-V it sat the same way..

After you cut the hole go to a part store and buy some small piping and slit one side of it and when you finish it, all you do it stick it around the edge and you should be fine

here's another thread with pics of what the install should look like.

there's also a few helpful tips about other stuff you should do to prevent damage, rust, or the erratic idle.

I dunno about that, but my gas mileage has improved on the norm since I had mine installed....if I drive hard its still not as bad when I had stock
