aem cai

is there any way an aem cai can be installed WRONG?

im just wondering cause i did the install myself and well, there seems to be an occasional rattle at a certain rpm somewhere from the the right side of the engine bay where the intake is......

also, when u replace the electrical solenoid, do you have to cap the two vacuum caps where the vacuum lines that were removed used to go?, aem only provided me one vacuum cap to cap the nub on the throttle body when the line was removed

the car idles fine, drives beautifully, but the intake isn't quite as loud as my friends si cai..

my intial butt dyno didn't tell me much, excpet i noticed it was a louder........also, whenever im in a gear and i step on it slightly i can hear hissing , i take it to be air rushing in, man i dont know i think im just worrying over nothing

last thing......i was wondering where everyone bolted their bracket? when u remove the vacuum solenoid aluminum bracket, did everyoen bolt the cai onto the first mount or the second one? i did it to the first one but the instructions at ntpog show the pics mounted on the second one (but they have a bypass valve if that makes a difference in the length of the cai)

finally, anything else i should look out for? loose connections, unremoved hose clips etc?

this may seem stupid...but did you put anything around the hole the cai passes through to get behind the bumper? if its bare metel the cai is probably hitting it and will eventually cut through the pipe....thats my only thought for your rattle...dont know about the rest cause I dont have a cai on my prelude yet...I did have one on my 99si when I owned that and it was very loud....ive heard the b16 and b18 tend to be louder then most

yea, i lined the whole w/ extra vacuum hose like the online instructions say

the rattle isn't like a big mass (like the intake tube) rattling....

sounds like a loose something somewhere

oh well, car performs fine, so i guess its ok

im still wondernig though, on the solenoid, do you need to plug up the two vacuum ports?

there are two holes on the throttle body that need to be capped up. I just did what the NTPOG instructions did, and connected the two holes with one piece of tubing.
Maybe your mount is loose. try tightening that. Did you tie wrap up the wiring that used to go to the butterfly valve in the resonator, maybe that's shaking around
