AEM Bypass Valve Worth it??

I've been hearing people say that there is no need for a bypass valve seeing that there is no way water or snow can get into the the fender in my 5gen.. I haven't installed my intake yet and I am debating if I should by a bypass valve while before i put my intake in...

And the other reason I am not sure of getting a Bypass valve is because I have the 1 peice AEM arm and I am not sure of cutting it.. Is it bad????

Thanks

I have the bypass valve on my 4th gen, it is an easy cut and easy install. You don't really need it, the bypass valve is just sort of a put my mind at ease thing, spend $30 dollars as an insurance policy to be sure I don't have to spend $3000. If I had to do over I wouldn't have installed it, but at the time I was paranoid. Just don't go through any holes that will dip your front end into water (meaning submerge, you have to have the whole filter submerged to suck water up to a point that would be dangerous.

Get this I just called a local shop in my town and the guy whouldn't sell me a bypass valve.. He said the same thing that you just said that it wasn't worth it.. And he also told me that the way it sits in the Prelude is not like the civic where there is a better chance of getting wet...

Nice to know that guys that work at shops won't even sell me one.. To funny..

Personally i think it is worth it and water can get up there just like civics and tegs

Do a search and u will find a lot of interesting comments

But even a small puddle can give u hydro lock not just huge ones

It depends, to some extent, on how much of a drop you have or plan on having. The closer to the ground you are, the larger the margin of sucking up some engine friendly water is.

A friend of mine had a 98 lude with an AEM CAI and H/R sports. On one rainy day, his car stalled going through some water at a stop sign. Major pain in the ass getting it started again. Needless to say we both invested in the by-pass thereafter.
