AEM bypass valve???

I AEM bypass valve essentail to AEM cai? I mean I live in Minnesota, there are rain, snow, everything, but I'm wondering for those who don't have the bypass valve installed, have you run into any problems so far?

Can you "shorten" the AEM cai and turn it into a shortram intake by remove a piece of pipe? How many piece of pipes does your AEM cai have when they shiped to you?

And one more thing, when I look at setup pics, some bypass valves installed right at the center of the pipe (near the battery), while other intall at the joint between the intake manifold and the intake itself, why is that?

Thanks,

AEM sells short ram intakes... so if you dont want cold air, buy the short ram....

And as far as the bypass goes... everyone has there own opinion on it..... I think its a COMPLETE waste of money and robs precious precious power......

The bypass valve doesn't catch all the water, but I guess it helps out. I just wouldn't suggest to always drive in the rain...If you want to shorten your CAI, just cut it whevere you want you filter to sit..I cut mine so that I can switch over whenever I want. Some days I'll have short ram, others I have CAI.....People put the bypass valve wherever they want to. Theres not a special spot for it, so wherever you want it to be, cut the pipe there and place your bypass valve there..
