advice on motor

hey guys i was drag racing today because it was opening day at our local drag strip. i ran my run and i stuck it in what i think was 4th but my car just dipped down it was so hard my back seat opened. then when i got to park i heard a ticking noise so i shut it off not thinking to much off it. when i came back it was misfiring like crazy and when i was trying to drive it home it died at idle. im gonna pull it apart tom to see whats wrong but i wanted to see what you guys thought was wrong. thanks

Sounds like a timing issue. Has your timing belt been replaced?

It sounds like you missed a shift and went into 2nd and instead of 4th unless your completely sure you went into 4th. I mean I dunno what else would cause your car to dip so hard like that. And you engine sounds like its knocking and/or might have bent a valve or 2.

That's what I was thinking.

yea it sounds like its coming from the head of the motor can you tell if you have a bent valve without doing a compression test?

could be a coupla things but do compression test and then go form there, remove your head and take a look. Either way it is time for a rebuild...

yea i don't have one so ill wait until tom i can do it at school and i dont have time or money to rebuild the whole motor. but the weird thing on this is i dont feel a lack of power it seems like when im driving it goes normally. is it possible to bend a valve and the straighten it out while driving? because it can idle itself now and the misfires not as bad as before but i still have a slight ticking

no a valve cannot straighten itself out, last time i checked. It is bent metal that got smacked by a piston. And if you say that the power is not that bad and neither is the tick then you might have done something else. (spun a bearing maybe???) But I still think you bent a valve. How loud is the ticking ??? abnormally loud like you hear it in the car with the windows up and it gets louder when you rev????
