Adan Model 7' vs. Konig Tantrums

What would you guys recommend for 17's, Advan's or the Konigs? And how much for each one? Thank you in advance for any help. I love this website.

Advans are the real deal from Japan. Very nice quality rims that are light and original --- since they are rare.............

Konigs on the other hand are imitation rims, pretty inexpensive, and everywhere.................(not really dissing konig rims, just compared to the advans they are for sure not as superior)

i know advans are really nice and really expensive, but those model 6s look pretty similar to the 5zigen fireballs to me. plus they also come in 17s and they're much cheaper! at modacar.com 17x7 with tires for $1150

for some reason I'm under the impression that if I were to put 18's on the car and use Neuspeed sport springs I would have to get a camber kit. I don't even know what the hell a camber kit is or how much it costs. Is it worth it for 18's, yeah I guess, but 17's look dope too.

how do you get the stars under your name? I don't have any. What's up with that?

My friend has Advan 17'' in gunmetal with Toyo Proxy tires all four for 1200 buckeroos. I think he's pulling my leg so that I join his car club.

more posts = more stars

Camber kit corrects the alignment when your car is too low to prevent immature tire wear.............

How much you drop a car is what determines if you need a camber kit or not..............

Not really the BRAND, but more like the size..........................
Probably 225 or 215/35/18s.......................

davido,

i ordered my advan kreuzer series 5 rims 18x7.5 (silver metallic)with a 50mm offset thru my local import speedshop. took 6months and almost $700 per rim. i paid a bit more then usual but it's well worth it to me. i'm thinking 17x7.0 model 6 rims will go for atleast $400 to $500 per rim. so your looking at some expensive rims and a waiting period of 2 to 3 months maybe even 6 months. the colors i believe (i can't find the advan wheel brochure i have) model 6s come in are silver and gold with the biggest offset of 45mm for 18x7.5 rims. i'm really not for sure tho.

ntr100,

i have 18x7.5 rims with 215/40 series yokohama paradas with no rubbing. i'm lowered 2.0ins (front) and 1.75 (rear) on skunk2coilovers and tokico blues. i did have minor alignment problems but were solved with a 45min simple alignment correction done at les schwaub for $70. the technician at les schwaub did mention that for some reason, lowered preludes do not have major alignments problems as much as the other hondas and imports. a camber kit would cost you maybe $300 not including labor.

if you decide to go with advans, you can get 18s without having the added wheel weight that usually comes with other 18in rims. the advan kreuzers at 18x7.5 weight at only 17lbs. and at 17x7.0 come in at 15lbs.

$1300 for advan rims with tires could be possible but does not sound real. maybe the rims and tires were used or he truely got himself a home-boy discount. 35series tires are to thin for me. especially when your rolling on advan rims. i would recommend atleast a 40series tire to give the lip of the rim added protection.

That 's true, I didn't think about protecting the major investment of the rim. So, damn..I should order the rims soon so I get them right as summer starts.

As far as the thin tires, I'd be worried that I'd be riding on the rim during some fast and furious turns on the Garden State Parkway. I used to own a pink, yes pink, 92 corolla. It had 80hp, 1.2 litre engine. I kicked so much arse in that car. I made sure I was riding on good tires, and that's all it took to destroy the good old boys in the camaro's and the rice burners.

Tires are the most important part about a car. Then the suspension, and finally the engine.

What do you think?

model6 use hollow cavity technology.
If you want them I can get them in 2weeks

actually, that's depending if they have stock in Japan. I remember getting the Volk GTP took like 2months last time cause they were high demand in the summer in Japan.

hollow cavity tech means the spokes are hollow on the inside, to save weight.

Yeap...the Model 6 have been out for awhile now. I remember seeing their ads in the magazines all the time. The spokes are hollow. There are other wheels that are also starting to use hollow spokes now as well.
