you should be concerned about everything. You got hit in the back, take as much advantage as you can.
Did you get the insurance and driver info of the van who hit you?
You should be going to a crooked mechanic to get an estimate on damages, the van who hit you will pay for all those damages. Make sure the mechanic you go to is crooked and corrupt as hell (shouldn't be hard to find one because 90 of 100 are). Get your motor, suspension, frame, chassis all that checked out. Anything wrong you can blame that on the van who hit you.
You should be going to a doctor, again on the expenses of the van who hit you.
and finally remember, don't feel bad to rip the person who hit you, because if it was the other way around and you hit someone in the back, believe me they would have ripped you for the last dollar you have. It human nature. Do to them what they will do to you.
Be sure the exhaust isn't rubbing or the bumper mounts and bumper assy is in good condition. Make sure the taillight mounting metal is not bent, or else your taillight gaskets will leak water into the truck forever, no matter how many new gaskets you put on. Trunk strait.
Your front bumper will probably always now sag, so might want to bring that up. Get pictures of it not sagging before the accident and tell them if it doesn't come out looking like that you won't take the car back. Bumper sag is a ***** and I consider myself lucky that it's not very severe on my car.
Nice attitude, Dan. OP, you could take Dan's advice or you could do the right thing and make them pay only for damage/injury that was actually caused by them.
wow, well thats one way to make everbody isurance go up. Like i get where this guy is coming from as im sure he doesnt have much in the way of equity, however that is no way to make a life, screwing people around (well actually iits the big insurance comapny so screw on...????)....?? now im confused.....
You have nothing to be concerned about other than a few broken clips and maybe a bent support (nothing structural, just for alignment. There is one in the back and the front) or two. Just deal with your insurance and have their adjustor check it out.
I'm not saying it's the right thing to do. But think of it this way. If you are the one who hit him in the back, he would have ripped you for everything you have.
I understand many people don't agree with me, but let's face the reality, the other guy would have done even worse to you.

^F uck this guy. Believe it or not, not everyone is a worthless piece of sh!t. Thanks for showing everyone which side of that line you fall on.

When I got rear-ended last winter, I got a rental car for 3 days and my rear bumper painted at the expense of the other person's insurance, no questions asked. I got hit square in my license plate, but it noticeably cracked and gouged my bumper cover. Make sure they check the foam cushion thing between the bumper cover and the actual bumper, if they are crushed they will need to be replaced. They can only be "used" once. It would also be a good time to get those mudflaps removed.
Are you made of glass? How do you have two fractured vertebrae from that?
LMAO...Believe it or not..I got hit pretty hard. I was amazed at how minor the damage was myself. Dr says it was from the combo of getting hit and then hitting the car in front...the force of my head getting thrown back compressed my spine causing vertical compression fractures.
Believe me...I was shocked as all hell!
Anyway...So have them check the exhaust, replace the bumper covers, and check my alignment? That about it?
Ahh whiplash, that could do it. From your description it seemed like you just tapped the person in front of you. The car traveled a really short distance very quickly, there was velocity but not much force behind it. Force causes damage to cars, velocity causes whiplash.
Well, ins adjustor says $2300 to fix. NYS law says since it's over 10 years old, They cant total it unless it's over 90% of the value. So I'm good up to $4500. Told the body shop dude to go over it with a fine tooth comb and find anything he could that could be attributed to the accident. I'm definitely breathing easier now that I know it's not gonna get totaled!
good luck to you mate! I hope they will bring it back exactly how it was before the accident. Anything less than that will be considered your loss, because you are the one who was hit in the back by that douche bag.
