ABS light came on after getting car tinted. Help

hey guys. I just went in and got my car windows tinted today. I stayed there for 2 hours until they finished the job.

After 2 mins of leaving, i felt the brake paddle rattle a little bit. And then i noticed the ABS light was on as well.

This morning the ABS light wasn't there. It just happened after the shop tinted my car. Could it be something they did?

I really neeed to know so i can complain if its something they could have done.

nsbsalt: I am taking it to mechanics tomorrow. They said they'll check whats the problem for free. I hope its nothing major. I just bought the car like not long ago.

When the ABS light is on, the system is disabled. The brakes will still function fine, you just will not have ABS.

Check your fuse first, there's a chance. Save yourself the time and money.

my car was doing this before. it randomly cut the abs on and off. the vibration in the pedal only occurs when the abs is kicking on or off. i always thought this had the potential to cause an accident if it happened while i was braking for a red light. i tried to clean the wheel speed sensors(i wasnt sure what i was doing) and my car hasnt done it since. i hope the problem is fixed.

That is probably the worst advice you can give when concerning automotive repair. Period.

i was referring to the abs light, not automotive repair in general. the light only comes on when there's a problem. sounds like a temporary malfunction to me.

Yeah, but something is going wrong for some reason. On something as important as the ABS, I'd say diagnose it(Kronns thread).

I've had my ABS light on for like 4 months. The codes mine threw were ABS fail-safe relay and the Central Processing Unit. I tested the relay and it works fine. haven't delved deeper into it because I don't know how to do the next trouble shooting steps.

I've just learned to deal with not having ABS.

thanks for the replies.

this morning i started up the car and the ABS light was on. As i was reversing i felt the pedal vibrate a little. But i didn't check the ABS light. 3 minutes into driving i realised the ABS light has turned off. So as "commandokock" said, I guess the ABS turned on again and thats why i felt the pedal vibration.

I took the car to mechanic, and he checked the computer codes. CEL, D4 and ABS light were blinking. After replacing my vehicle speed sensor (about a week ago), the computer wasn't cleared. So he cleared it, and none of the lights blinked now.

He told me to bring the car back if it happens again.

Thanks again guys. This time around, i'll do the troubleshooting myself from "Kronn 98SH" guide. I saw how the mechanic did it and it looked easy.

thepreludedude: 1.5 to 2 hours. Its because they had to peel the tint already on the windows.
