99 lude died while driving won't start back up

I was on my way to work and I came to a stop sign I pressed the gas and the rpm dropped I barely rolled across the intersection I pressed the gas again and it died on me. I started it back up and then vtec'd it bc I thought something was plugged then I turned and tryed going up a small incline and it died again and now it will not start back up at all. It cranks and cranks just fine it wont start at all now It was driving fine be4 I tryed crossing the intersection. I've got fuel I cracked the bolt from the fuel filter to the rail and fuel squirted out. I've got spark I put a key in the end of my wire and a nice purple spark came out of it. I pulled off the valve cover and the timing belt is fine not even any cracks. No new codes i did have a cel for running too rich be4. After I crank it and it doesnt start the oil light and the battery light say on please if any1 has any suggestions or advice I appreciate very much this is my only transportation and need to get this fixed asap. I did try searching and no threads related to my problem

Could be a completely clogged cat. Drop your exhaust and see if it'll start.

I'd check spark and fuel first, a loss of either will cause the engine to shut down completely. A clogged cat will be noticeable long before the car decides not to run from choking on it's own exhaust gasses.

He said he already checked spark and fuel.

So it turns out the timing belt is worn out and skipped a few teeth. I've heard be4 that these motors are not zero clearance so it's ok if the belt brakes. Should I be concerned my valves are bent? It sounded fine when I started it up after it died the first time so I think Im ok. When it died I didn't hear any loud knocking noises be4 or after so... What do u guys think?

What you heard is wrong, when the timing belt skips a few teeth or breaks you are almost guaranteed bent valves.

If you don't know anything about it then you wont be able to install new valves, the head has to be removed and sent to a machine shop. There they will replace any bent valves, recondition seats, install new guides where needed and new valve stem seals. When done they'll leak check it, check it for warping and mill if needed.

After you get it back you'll have to reinstall the head using a new headgasket and set the valve lash as they won't do it for you.

^Depending on where you go, it will be around $200 for the head job.

Had it towed and a mechanic is fixing it for me. No bent valves. They bought a timing belt kit with a water pump there getting that in. I guess they bought a kit without the tensioner so that's gonna be another 100$ and I have to wait they can't get it til tomorrow cuz the holiday. I'm a little upset they didnt buy a kit with the tensioner bc I jumped online and found them for te same price they got there's.

Oh and paperboy don't try and jack my thread do some research or start your own ya jack a55

didn't they tell you before that there was no bent valves? what type of rip-off mechanics are you dealing with? oh yeah, I forgot 99% of them are that way.

Take you car back to the people who replaced your timing belt without inspecting the valves first. If the valves are bent, get your money back. Take them to claims.
