'98 Type Sh Radiator Replacement ?

I've never replaced a radiator before and I am just wondering if there is anything else that is common to replace at the same time due to necessity or convenience?

Also, I've owned my car for 12 years, but I am pretty sure it was in an accident before I bought it. Anyway, I noticed that I have 2 different types of fans on my current radiator one has 5 blades the other 4 blades. I think one is the denso (5 blades) and one is a toyo (4 blades). I've heard that these fans are not interchangeable so I'm not sure what is going on with my setup, or if I will run into problems reattaching the fans to the new radiator?

Lastly, how can I tell if my stock radiator is a denso or toyo?

It would be a good time to look at all the coolant hoses and I'd probably change the thermostat.

The fans are different. One (drivers side) works with the AC. Any radiator designed for your car will accept the stock fans.

Look for a label. For purpose of replacement it doesn't matter.

Only thing to be careful of, if you decide to buy an Aluminum (aftermarket) radiator and your car is an automatic or an SH. Most of the aluminum do not come with the cooler set up for ATF or the ATTS lines. So you have to add a transmission cooler as well.

Thank! Perfect answer.

I was debating whether to order a new thermostat or not. I looked it up after I posted and was surprised at how cheap it was, so considering the cost of coolant, it seems wise to replace when I do the radiator.

So it's normal for the fans to be different? I didn't look at it too well yet. I just noticed one was 5 blades and the other one was smaller and only 4 blades because I read somewhere that the way you could tell which oem radiator brand you have is by the fans. A 5 blade fans = denso; 4 blade fans = toyo.

I did look for a label before, but all I found was "honda" and "pa66+pa612~g<" stamped to the top which I googled but it was no help.

I do have a type sh and plan to replace with oem from hondapartsunlimited.com
Thanks again
