98 prelude can't pass test only

Ok guys once again I need your help to get my 98 prelude sh back to health. My Lude is releasing white smoke from the exhaust. The smoke is more noticeable when on the freeway usually around 75-80 mph. The smoke is not continuous it varies. Also sometimes when I come to a stop my car shuts off. I have no problem starting it. There are no check engine lights on. My car is bone stock except for an after market intake. I had a test only performed and they told me its running too rich. At idle there is no white smoke. please help!

The emission test results were
Hc(PPm) 349, max 55, 15mph fail
312, max 39, 25mph fail
CO(%)
1.44, max .50, 15 mph, fail
1.72, max .48, 25 mph, fail

I passed the No portion of the test.

If you believe that it's running too rich, I'd get a VAFC. But the white smoke suggests that isn't it.

Have you ever cleaned out the EGR and all the ports?

Well.. white smoke usually means blown head gasket.. but not always.

Check your oil and coolant for milky or discoloration. Check your PCV valve and EGR. Check sparks to see if they are fouling.

Since you aren't getting a check engine light, that's a bad thing, since if you were running rich in THEORY you would get a code 45, telling you its running rich. Since its not, then you may be just burning coolant.

Whatever you do though, don't get all upset before properly investigating the issue.
