Stick your key in the console to reset it. When was the last time u had an oil change? IF the light comes back on. Its something else. Ive heard some just come on and there is nothing wrong with the car whatsoever.

Plug into the computer...

Take it back to the shop and have the mechanic read the dygnostic code from the computer. Just a guess, if nothing seems wrong with the car...it could be your o2 sensor. My 98' started having a "slow response" o2 sensor problem at 49,000 miles. It doesn't mean that it's bad already, just that it's starting to go. Once i replaced the sensor, no more light.

They also set it at certain miles and it will go on no matter what. I just did my oil change and a week later i passed 37,500 and brought it in and they do some services around that mileage. No biggie

The "Check Engine" light is not the same as the "Maintenance Required" light that goes from green to yellow to red every 7500 miles. You can't reset a Check Engine light by putting your key into that slot in the gauge cluster like you can with the maintenace one..

Most likely it's a problem with your emissions system... probably O2 sensor like FFMLude said..

Check Gas Cap

Did you put gas into your car just prior to taking it to the shop? The exact same thing happened to me at about 50,000 miles. I checked under my hood to see if I could find anything wrong with the car and I couldn't.
Finally I decided to read the owner's manual, and it told me that it was an O2 sensor and that I would need to bring it by a Honda Dealership. But the manual also told me prior to bringing the car by the Honda Dealership, I should check the gas cap.
The manual stated that a loose gas cap would also cause the "Check Engine" light to turn on. So, I checked the gas cap and WHHAAALLLAA! The gas cap was loose! (Boy did I feel stupid) So I tighted the gas cap, and (just like the manual stated) the "Check Engine" light turned off about 300 miles later. GEEEEZZZ, I guess the owner's manual is useful. Anyway's sorry so long. Hopefully this helps you out.

Later
