97 prelude sh clutch issue

What's up honda people? Iight I have a 97 prelude sh and due to all rpms and no go a few good people on this site sugested it MIGHT be a clutch issue. Being a firm believer of its not really your car unless you work on it. So I searched prelude sh clutch change off this fourm and dove right in. First time ever doin a clutch and wifey helped me took three days got it back together today and my sh turned over like a champ BUT when we attempted to release the clutch pedal it started makin a weird noise like a ticking, and would not shift through the gears with the car on. Turned off the car went through the gears like butter. I truely dont wanna take the whole thing apart any suggestions on what the problem could be...thank you

Damn....doing mine on my sh next weekend. Scared to death of it costing me more than a couple days. You changed the throw out bearing when you did the clutch? Tq everything correctly? Alignment?

I replaced throw out bearing, flywheel, disc, pressure plate and I did the rear main seal. If you are doing it yourself it might take a few days and the shops are gonna charge you a crazy price.. Some advice be extremly careful you do not break the oil pressure sensor it costs almost 300 hundred to replace..

800 is a pretty good quote imo. Lowest i was quoted was 1500. My issue is still not fixed tho. Ticking noise when the clutch pedal is released and hard to shift into gears while car is on. Not lookin forward to taking my sh apart again but I gotta. Any ideas anybody????

Dumbest question ever.... instead of using HONDA MANUAL tranny fluid in the tranny I used dextra auto tranny fluid. The mechanic said it doesnt matter, could this be the issue? Any feedback would help.

Certain ATF is acceptable to use, however I wouldn't put anything but the honda mtf in it personally. Thats probably not your issue. All you can really do is take it apart again.

Actually the fluids can cause it to be hard to shift. But the clunking noise wouldn't be caused by the fluid.

I didn't tighten the bolts on the pressure plate all the way so it wasn't ingaging properly. Took it apart again and she drives like silk and shifts like butter. Damn I felt dumb.

The Mitchel flat rate labor time estimate for changing a clutch in an SH is TEN hours. A base model is only 6.3hrs.
