5th Generation Transmission Possible solution

One week ago my 01 Prelude started having transmission issues, shifting irradicly, CEL light on, D4 blinking, revving up high, wrong gear. I did plenty of research and noticed that Honda had a recall for some tranny issues. I contacted Honda with my vin, however earlier this year due to extensive hail damage my insurance co. totalled out my Prelude. I purchased the car back because all it needed was alot of dent work from the hail. The Honda rep informed me that they would not and could not do any type of service bulletin work due to the salvage title now on my car. I have a code reader and pulled the codes myself, it gave me - p0700,0730,0740... btw, the 0700 is the transmission controller code. after doing alot of research I found the 0730 and 0740 to be the tranny is "dead" codes. Not believing it just went out I did the following - cleaned the lock-up control selonoid,, no change same codes. I then replaced the mainshaft speed sensor - no change same codes. I then removed and cleaned the A/T clutch pressure selonoid A and B.. no change same codes. I then replaced the shift control selonoid B and C... no change same codes... I then replaced the vehicle speed sensor, no change same codes. I then flushed the transmission fluid out and replaced it with Honda fluid.. apparently using anything other than Honda fluid can cause transmission problems. I then removed the Transmission Control Module located under the passenger floor. I took it apart and tried to see if any capacitors or resistors were leaking. As far as i could tell they were fine. I found on ebay you can send this place your module and for 124.00 they will rebuild and check it out..I did notice that there was some type of oil inside where the tcm plugs in.. very odd.. I removed it and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and after it dried reinstalled it. I then found an obscure thread that mentiond that some guy changed the Throttle position sensor and it resolved his issue.. at this point I was pricing rebuilt transmissions at 1600.00 with a discount at Auto Zone... I purchased the throttle position sensor from Honda, installed it and after resetting the codes, it blew the 0700, and odly 0715 throttle position sensor..No 0730 or 0740.. after removing the tps atleast a dozen times and finally figuring out how to calibrate it, I started the car, reset the codes and the car is code free and shifting like a brand new Prelude.. very odd and almost hard to believe that the tps had an effect on my tranny and never blew a tps code..I have been driving the car for the last few days atleast 60+ miles each day.. no codes as of yet and the car is shifting better then it ever has.. I dont know if this solution will work for you but it is working for me so far..

Best solution: sell it.

Is everything still working ok? Im going to try this myself, Im currently having issues where my transmission seems to only work in 1st and 4th gear while manually shifting. 2nd gear only works once a month.. and 3rd gear on a use to use basis (sometimes sticks in gear and other times kinda slides in eventually) Its been really weird and this is the 3rd auto/sport transmission ive had this issue with. Im starting to think its something other than the transmission tbh.

Hmm, that's an interesting discovery, thanks for sharing. Did you ever test the old TPS before you replaced it?
