5th Generation FAQ

This is a compilation of some of the most common threads for 5th generation Preludes. They represent issues common to this car, and are included here as a convenient reference for new users. This thread is not about modifying the car beyond stock specifications -- please reference the N/A Library, FI library, or other forums if you want to know more about advanced mods. Each topic is organized by category.

Buying
  • Decoding the VIN Make sure your VIN matches the car's description! There have been several reports of base models being advertised as SH models!
    JHM BB6 a b c d C 123456 stands for
    JHM = Japan Honda Motor Company
    BB6 = Chasis name
    a = Tranny. Either 1/2, 1=stick, 2=auto
    b = Trim. Either 4/5, 4=base, 5=SH
    c = random check digit
    d = Year. Either V/W/X/Y/1, 97/98/99/00/01
    C = Plant. Sayama, Japan
    123456 = serial number
