The Helm lists quite a few probable causes regarding excessive shock on 3-4 upshift besides the faulty solenoid. Hydraulic: foreign material in seperator orifice, shift valve C defective, 3rd accumulator defective, 4th accumulator defective. Mechanical: 3rd clutch defective, 4th clutch defective. If you haven't been seeing an excessive amount of material on the drain bolt, you might be able to rule out the clutches. However, with as much material as I have seen on mine and have been reading about others seeing on theirs, who really knows what is considered "excessive"???. Also, at this point it looks like that regardless of what your problem is, it is internal.
Just an aside, since it seems you and I seem to be most knowledgeable about this tranny and we are both experiencing a problem, I was wondering if you had had a chance to read more about my troubleshooting in your other thread, your thoughts would be appreciated: Troubleshooting your SS Auto. I'm adding a new post now as I have a new development.
I'm aware of all of this. I was looking to see if anyone else had any input... it appears that Shark and I know a generally decent amount... but I'm trying to find an engineer...

There was a guy on this board who isactually working for Honda Motor Co. and he is an engineer. I think he works with a transmision department, so he would be your best bet.
I wish i remember his name... But do a search ... might come up with a lot of stuff but i think last time i saw him post was about 2 months ago in FIFTH GEN FORUM.
Beside.... why do you need to ask for help GERHARD.... you of all people know more there is about the SS tranny on here then anyone else.
I haven't been back to the dyno yet and I am having issues with the SS tranny and have not been able to isolate what is wrong. My torque curve is not flat below 4500 rpm as it should be with boost and my stall speed is between 1800-2000 rpm, much lower than spec.

While it's true that I've learned alot about the basic issues with the transmission and some of the things you can do to take care of it / troubleshoot it, I'm not a transmission engineer or repair specialist.
I'm also attempting to get as much information for general troubleshooting purposes as possible.
I don't think that everyone is going to swap out their SS Autos. So anything I put together will probably be useful to others.

Defenetly!!! I dont think I will save up enough loot to do a swap and at the same time build up my car. I dont think it would be worth it. So I give you thumbs up for compiling that much information on SS tranny. I think you are like the SS king or Dr. SS. May be you should that in your sig.
I dont think my tranny is giving any major signs yet. I mean it does here and there but nothing to claim it as a potential future tranny failure. I'm thinking once i replace my ATF fluid and install my new oil cooler, it should do much better.
