5Th gen headlights PROBLEM

My question is can the lights still come on if the harness has melted? Or would the lights coming on and being dim be a result of a shot relay?

Scenario:

I was using what I thought were 55->85 bulbs but apparently they were only 88watt. Now my pass. side light, after blowing the bulb, is very dim. When I turn the high-beams on the regular bulb turns off and the high-beams stay the same dim tint. So whats up with this? If the wiring was shot, wouldnt' the lights not work at all??

Also, if you have suggestions on how I can go about fixing this please provide them!!

Thanks!

i have a similar problem with my headlights..i bought a set of 2 nokya hyper white bulbs about a month ago, for the highbeam and low...already 3 of them have blown out or have gone very dim. i made sure not to touch the bulb when installing them. if someone could enlighten us of the problem or give advice of better quality bulbs it would be highly appreciated..i'm thinking of just getting piaa's now..
