I'd suggest you go out to Vertex in Tyson's Corner. They have CF hoods for $495 installed. Plus, you don't have to worry about any damage done by the shipping company, and you can actually see the hood before you buy it. I have one on my black Lude, and it looks incredible. If you want to see a Vertex hood on a black Lude first hand, I could meet you somewhere one day this week since you're nearby, and you could see mine.

No. Vertex doesn't actually make them...they order them from somewhere...I don't even think they know where. I asked when I bought mine. One guy told me Taiwan, another told me Cali. But, the hood is pretty sweet, so it doesn't really matter to me.
I didn't get hood pins with mine...I don't really care for that look either. Besides, hood pins let everyone know you have a CF hood. The hood seems pretty strong, and I've taken mine up to 120 MPH without any problems. It does flutter around at 80 or so like all other CF hoods do, but after that, it seems to smooth out. I'm sure that most of the flutter can be taken out with minor adjustments though.
If you're free sometime this week, or weekend, we can hook up, and check out each other's rides. Usually, I get off work in the evening...7pm or so. Let me know what day is cool for you, so I'll know to drive my Lude to work that day.

whats everyones take on CF hoods? Can they be potentially dangerous? I love the look and hope to buy one, one day. But, there was an incident here locally where someone was in a head on collision and the CF hood was so strong that it did not crumple. Instead it came flying thru the windshield and almost took their heads off, if they did not duck in time!

if/when i do it, it is going to be a local type of thing. you would have to come and pick it up and also have a way to get your stock hood home unless you ust didnt want it anymore.
