I would either have the bearing replaced or sell the car. Possibly both

The automatic is a ticking time bomb waiting to fail.

Cost me $2500 for the swap and all the parts. You don't need a new tac the auto one will work. But you can change out the tac if you want, its really easy.

Hey just a question. The sound clunking in idle and neutral goes faster as revs increase. Is this an indication of the torquie converter having a problem? Is this a costly fix?

The problem is every transmission place wont give me a price untill they open it up, and when they do it you're kinda stuck with them since the labor is done. I'm on a tight budget and dont wanna get ripped off

NO, no noise in driving only in neutral and park. Here's a better vid for you to heat what im talkin about. Its definately the transmission but dont wanna get someone to open it up before having an idea of what needs fixing

The vid shows how it sounds from neutral (noisy thumping) to reverse (normal), drive sounds normal like reverse. Any ideas?

since it only happens when the torque converter is not engaged i would say that could be a problem.

when its in gear the engine sounds fine.

so my best guessimate is the torque converter or a bad bearing in some part of the trans.

but i'm thinking torque converter

Peter I had the same problem. That was the first symptom I had when my transmission was beginning to fail. The next symptom was that when I would come to a stop, my transmission would bump back into first gear and the car would feel like it got bumped from behind. Finally my gears started slipping. When that started happening I changed the transmission fluid and installed a transmission cooler. At first the problem continued, but now it has been a few months since I installed it and my gears are no longer slipping. Therefore, if you wish to prolong the like of your transmission, my recommendation would be to do the same that I did.

Thanks for all the help guys i know its kinda of hard to diagnose such a problem with videos and explanation so truly I appreciate the feedback. Im gonna grab a tranny cooler off someone at another forum and bring it in to a local tranny shop near me. Trying to find an honest tranny shop on the toronto area. If anyone knows one be chance, please let me know. On a tight budget
