5th Gear Skunk Smell - Honda Prelude Forum

For some reason, it always stinks like skunk on 5th.
In the first two weeks after I got the car, every gear stank!
Until I took it back to the dealer, and now only 5th gears stinks.
Could it be my shifting? But I doubt it because once I shift to 5th, it stays there. I normally don't downshift. I keep my left foot on the footrest the whole time. I shift from 4th to 5th around 50mph. Approximately at 70mph, it starts to stink.

anyone has this problem?

maybe your burning up the clutch a tad.

Whenever I smell something burning..that is not a good sign. I agree with 2k.. probably burning the clutch?

Does anyone ever burn the clutch when they race?

Usually after a race, does your car stink?
Just curious.

it could be the clutch, the gas burning, or ur tires. but yah, whenever i race, my car smells, cause ur letting out on the clutch real fast,and yah.... peace!
