Just got my '01 lude back from getting the 5spd swap done at a local shop....clutch feels fine everything is fine...but I go on the parkway...and car redlines at alittle over 6000 rpm. No vtec engaged at all either. Im like WTF!!! I take the car back to the shop they say its prolly my ecu...being that I still have the auto ecu in......They said to drop the car off in the morning....you guys think it is the ecu....or did they forget to plug up the vtec selenoid or something?? I also have no power in the radio...radio does not come on or the ac adapter either......You guys know whats problem with the vtec....Car acts perfectly normal with the auto ecu btw, except for CEL, and VTEC

ha you need a diff ecu, or at least a reflashed ecu. Sounds like your ecu has gone into "limp" mode because it has detected something is different, or wrong.

You speedometer should ABSOLUTELY work... even if VTEC doesn't.
The computer is easily converted to the manual version... make sure the TCM was removed as it sends a signal to the ECU.
When you covert, the TCM has to come out as it's expecting a position signal from the shifter's attachment to the ATGPS (Auto Transmission Gear Position Sensor)... which doesn't exisit anymore.
No VTEC....
The speedometer has nothing to do with any of those circuits... so the ONLY thing that would cause it not to work would probably be the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor). I'm thinking they didn't connect it.
The car should store a code indicating the VSS is not working.
On the ECU....there are 3 connecters that are there.....Are all 3 suppose to be pluged in still? The little box next to the ecu....isnt that the TCM......Im suppose to talk that out also right?

I found the problem with the VTEC not engaging. The Neutral Saftey switch was in the park position. I had to switch it to drive position...now I have VTEC.....Im glad to have that feeling back.

So, are you talking about the neutral position on the Automatic Transmission Gear Position Switch?
Yes Gerhard......It was in Neutral I believe.....that is why the car only revved to 6k....and no vtec.....When we took it out of that position....I believe they put it in drive or removed it all together, (not sure, went on a lunch break) the car had TEC......now I just need the ECU soldered........::::cough cough:::: Gerhard ::cough cough:: Whe i start my car up in the mornings I get a uneven idle....the car revs between 1k and 2k....I am guessing because of the ecu...so when i get that taken care of....I will be goos to go.....
