okay, i have been f'in around with the p06s and i found its rather easy to get the resistors out, its putting the leads back into the circut board that is the hard part....now, this resistor, is it pill shaped? i havent even tooken apart the ecu yet. also, does it matter if you burn/melt the outer coating of the resistor?

If you look through my post history, you'll find some mentions about the OE Anti-Theft stuff on the 5th gen preludes.

The key DOES have a chip in it, it's called an "Immobilizer" system. When you turn the key to on; the immob unit energizes the key, kind of like an antenna; causing it to send an RF signal to the receiver under the dash.

Every different key gives a random signal; and must be individually programmed.

One alternative way, is to use the "Training Key" for your car, and tape the key that went to the ECU that your trying to use on the head of the key. It should cause it to start occasionally. Tape them head to head; so the ecu's key is effectively facing the passenger side, when you use your training key.

To make a long story short; IOT use the manual ECU; your going to need to take the car to a honda dealer, and have them program a "New" Immob code into the ECU.

If your good at making up stories, you might be able to get a tech to do it for free; but I'm not a people person- I had to pay $75 for it =/

V/r,
Mike
