5G 'Lude tach is 300RPM off?

Some of you guys have said that the 'Lude's tach is about 300RPM off, so 8,000RPM on the tach would be about 7,700RPM in actual fact. Does that apply to the whole RPM range or only in the upper part? My car idles at around 700-800RPM, so if the tach is off that means that the idle is 400-500RPM, which to me seems a little too low.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

As the revs increase the margin of error increases too.

The tach is more off in the upper part then it is in the lower part.

Much like speedometer error; the higher the speed the greater the error.
