4th Gen to 5th Gen Tranny Swap

My SS Auto transmission just recently went on my 99 Prelude. I've taken it to the transmission specialist and found that the price to get it fixed is about the same as it would be to just do an auto to manual conversion. And seeing as i've always wanted the car to be a manual, and I have a good team to help me do it, I figured it would be a fun project to take under.

The only problem has been finding a donor car. I have found a 1996 sr-v Honda prelude with the same engine and manual tranny, however I would prefer if I could get a donor car where I know I can just rip off the parts I need and know that they'll fit into mine.

What are the chances that if I bought the 96 Prelude that everything from it, lengths, linkages, mounts.. etc. would all be the same as my 99 Prelude?

Probably slim, I know, but I'd still like to hear some feed back!

Thanks!

Are you talking from personal experience, or is this just common knowledge? haha

I used mostly 4th gen parts on my swap. I think the only parts that wont work are the tranny bracket, brake pedal and clutch line. I used the 4th gen shift box with a Forbidden shift lever as well. You can also use the firewall of the 4th gen to make a template for locating your clutch MC. I cut that section of the 4th gen out with a sawzall and it overlaid the 5th gen firewall perfectly, making the hole location easy. You can also break the spot welds and use the 4th gen spacer between the clutch pedal and the firewall instead of flat washers.

I had one change made to mine by member Gerhard. But I kept having an engine light come on. Stupid me, I bought a new ECU, had it programmed for my car-- Still had the code Ended up having a vacuum line knocked off under the intake!! Never was the ECU!!

Smartest thing to do for best fitment would be EVERYTHING 5g when it comes to parts except the trans since all H/F trans are interchangeable.
