hello..i have a 2001 prelude type sh and alot of people said that a 2000 Celica GTS can beat a prelude so im wondering which one would win. Cause i heard like half the people said a prelude would win and the other half said that celica would win...by any chance do u know what car would win..thanks.
I drive a 2001 Prelude base 5speed and my friend drives a 2000 Celica GTS 6spd.
We never raced (tried and cop stopped us before we lined up), but we did drive each other's car on some occasion.
for performance mod, he's got AEM CAI, TRD exhaust and H&R springs.
As for me, I got AEM CAI only.
off the line his car felt slightly quicker, but the Vvtli kicks in a bit late at 6500rpm and red line at 7800rpm or something. If Toyota can lower it down to 5500ish rpm then I would say Celica wins for sure.
For now, I would say its pretty even... just watch out for the VVtli engagement, because celica pulls HARD once its in the range.
with a good driver who knows how to stay within the GTS powerband, the GTS would win hands down. its hella quick..with its 14 sec 1/4 mile..and with prelude 5spd being 15s. juss hope the GTS driver sucks.

GTS is not in the 14's, i'll tell you it might be a little faster, but it all comes down to the driver.
i have a 99 base prelude with mods of intake, and 18" alts, and a friend of mine has a 2001 trd packaged gts celica, and one night about 4 weeks ago we raced 3 times, and all 3 times i beat him by a car, car and a half...the cleicas are all talk, and show...definately a chick car..

Don't underestimate them that much! As was previously stated....A well driven GT-S is very quick & would be a good match for a properly driven Lude (might even beat a properly driven Lude:finger: )
