My cousin has a 2000 Jetta VR6 (Manual) and he keeps talking trash and says that he would beat my Prelude pretty bad. I have to admit, my cousin might be a better driver than me, but I consider myself average with this car since it is new and I am not too fimiliar with launching techniques. Who would win, my Prelude Type SH or my cousin's Jetta VR6?

Thanks for the help...I'm tired of my cousin talking shieet...
If both drivers were the same who would win? Please give me answers to both scenerios. I have seen the 0-60 of the Prelude to be 6.7 in Car and Driver magazine, anyone have times for the jetta VR6 vs. prelude SH?
THANKS
...Dont tell me that the Type SH is slower than the base, because its not.
i think those custom dual headlights and carbon fiber dash might give the jetta a distinct advantage over your aggressive eyelids and clear bumper lights
I'm guessing that if u get a good launch and are ahead of him before the 1-2 shift at a tach-indicated 8000 rpms, u'll win - while obviously assuming u don't mis-shift the other gears. Since you have those 17s on, i'm not really sure what will happen. If you get a perfect launch and shift right and still lose, then u'll know why you lost. Have you seen how well he can launch his vr6? Ask to get a ride in it and get him to show you somehow. You'll at least have an idea what you'll be up against
I ate most VR6s up pretty bad - Golfs and Jettas alike - and even a few chipped 1.8Ts, back when I raced on streets. But with those 17" wheels... I dunno man.

lol dont launch at 8000. do some searches for "how to launch." its been posted everywhere. and.. if you dont want to "kill your car", dont race. anything you do while racing will kill you car.

Check the Drag Racing and Street Racing Forums on launch technique. 99Prelude_LC has got some good launching videos too .

Seriously........why would you list those mods except the intake if they are just cosmetic?
Also...I agree with ywwong...asking here is no excuse for trying it in real life and seeing what the outcome is that way.
it sounds like you are going to race for sure, so why don't you tell us the result after the race instead? practice your launch, throw out the unnecessary weight, get the tire pressure right and bring us the good news. two cars in stock form are close competitors BTW.

I just pasted the mods from a wordpad file that I had, so why dont you guys read everything instead of just posting stuff.
This is pointless....I'll just race him and tell you the results
