2000 prelude does not crank or start up dealer says.....

the dealer says that its due to a bad ecu and a bad neutral safety switch.... ok here is what happened i was hooking up my amplifier and sub in the trunk in no way i messed with anything electronic of the car besides what i had to do to connect my amp.... but anyways when i try to start my car nothing happens... the lights everything comes on as the radio but the car does not crank with the key... i had a mechanic check it out and he said it was a bad relay... when i changed it and still nothing..... so i took the car to the dealership to do a full diagnostic and they said it was that it had a bad ecu and a neutral safety switch..... i dont even know where the dam switch is located and im having a hard time trying to find it.... i looked it up on ebay and found one for about 120 dollars where as the dealer wanted to charge me 1500 for everything i told them they could shove it i dont have that kind of money anybody have any ideas????? I need help....

Okay, now with the ECU problem, i can offer ZERO advice.

The neutral safety switch, is located up under the dash on the left by the clutch pedal.

It can be bypassed, by splicing the wires together. The Neutral safety switch is there to not allow your car to start if you dont fully depress the clutch pedal.

Bypassing it allows you to start the car without pushing in the clutch, BUT if its in gear when you start it, could cause issues. So do it safely, bypass the switch and see if it runs after that, before doing ECU work.

Most of those are under the console. Two or three wire switch. I know if you use the wrong key it will do that what your saying

Was your battery connected when you connected the amp? Did you check your fuses? Possibility there's a short somewhere?
