A couple of things.first: my previous post was just to mess with you.I really am going to be a cop but I also agree it should be legalized.its not a very good thing to do but there is also far worse evil one can do in the world than smoke a dubbie on a Friday night.second: retract your previous statement about thanking SH Driver.he makes pointless rants.ignore everything he posts.just about everything he just posted is false...no wait everything is wrong.simple dyno charts of preludes with and without aftermarket free flowing cai's,exhaust, header, etc shoots down everything he wasted his time to type.

And as for your question only you can really determine if those things are necessary or not.if it gives you piece of mind I say go for it.like a few weeks ago I put on my new MSD spark plug wires.my old OEM ones were working just fine but I changed them anyway because I had the little extra cash and didn't know how long they had been on the car.as for oil I use Mobil1 fully synthetic.only the good sh!t touches my car

thanks again for the advice. I was just looking at that Mobil 1 syth at the store yesterday.
I did look at the links SH Driver posted about the s-type intake. It seems like a pretty good intake. I would get about the same advantage as a after market CAI but maybe a better power curve. and yeah. I was going to put iridium plugs and synth oil in my car anyway. Like I said before I have a Honda Motorcycle. I changed the plugs over to iridium. HOLY $$$$. It was like driving a different bike. It was so much more responsive. My top speed went up 10-15mph!!!! It was an older bike and its not a car engine, so I wouldn't expect to even really feel a difference in my prelude, but I know first hand they can make a insane difference in certian circumstances. Well worth the small price and peace of mind IMO.

I finally have a car worth modding a little and you tell me its too perfect already for bolt ons. What is your suggestions on worthy mods. I am not against doing a turbo, except it seems I need to then do the ecu, cams, etc, etc. I don't want to put that much into this car. Maybe 1000 bucks and stuff my friend and I can do on our own. suggestions? Those links you gave are sweet. I think it will be a worthy adventure to try and track those parts down. Shouldn't be too hard since I am already in Japan. Reading those links about the stock intakes just makes me love this car even more. Its the most advance FF in the world, isn't it also the fastest production FF too?
Your engine is over 9 years old, and in its present state, is putting out twice the power of some previous Prelude engines of a similar size built in the past so for the sake of longevity I would refrain from asking it to do more if you want a long lasting drama free car.At any rate, you need to get at least a 20 hp gain before you would notice any real improvement in performance and achieving that kind of gain on an engine refined to the point that your engines is would cost a lot more then a $1000 bucks because simple bolt ons won't get you there.

If your just dieing to spend money check out some of my non engine related mods.

Check this thing out. Its a device that you plug into the back of your stock radio in the external cd changer socket that interfaces your IPOD with your radio. I have one and works great!
Its simple. One wire goes into the jack on the rear of your stock radio and the other wire plugs in to the bottom of your IPOD.You can control the IPOD using controls on the stock radio or use the IPODS controls and power is being fed to the IPOD so its always fully charged.

Neo Car Audio :: The leader in OEM integration.

Just one wire coming out of your IPOD and a direct audio feed from just one cable thats fed into the back of your stock radio.

Lots of wires and a FM transmitter is no good.

Here are two other cosmetic mods I have made.

OEM enhancements:
1: Special Honda Prelude side door trim imported from Japan.

2:Optional Honda Prelude exhaust tips

3:I would order another leather Honda shift knob to replace your old worn one before its to late.

Just read what the Honda engineer's had to do to squeeze another 20hp out of your engine for the special JDM Type S model and ask yourself or you prepared to go that far?

all good points. looks like unless I really want to get serious I should just take care of this baby and enjoy her. My sound setup is F%%%ed. I have Honda Navigation system put in. I don't think this tech was even in the states 9 years ago. DVD rom in the trunk, touch screen TV and a cassette player. The dvd-rom wont play movies or even cd's just the DVD navi disc. The Navi is all in Japanese and a pain to use. My iphone gps works better. The TV is analog and Japan is stopping all analog broadcasts next year. The fricking air conditioning is controlled through the touch screen so I don't think I can just yank the thing out and put in a new deck. I dont know what to do. I have to go to a car stereo place with a japanese friend, or better yet Honda dealer and see what my option are.

^I told you all he does is rant.it is very possible to get an extra 20 horses from your car with bolt ons.my car is all motor but has lower compression pistons because it was going to be a turbo motor and basic bolt ons and skunk2 tuner cams and my car has been dyno tuned to 185whp.it would be more if I had the stock or higher compression pistons.my hytech replica header from Kronn has been dyno proven to give gains of about 11 or 12 untuned and 15 or 16 after tuning alone.so although our cars don't respond to bolt ons as well as we would like it will still make a difference.do yourself a favor and delete all of his posts and forget about it.

Garage dynos are just good for relative measurements when testing a car under similar atmospheric conditions and engine load. Engines rated by Honda ,are tested under international testing standards so their engine rating figures are usable when comparing them to other cars tested under the same rigorous standards. .

^that's true however, non of that matters if you dyno the exact same car before and after a modification because you have the control(the car before the modification) and then one variable changes(the mod) and then see the gain in power on the dyno after the mod is installed(the result).this follows the guidlines to any scientific experiment(which this is in a way).so these numbers will still be quite accurate as long as the atmispheric pressure, humidity, etc stays the same during this time.

Hey Inaka, you should check out a shop called UP GARAGE. I'm not sure if there are any around Fukui, but where I lived in the Kanagawa, there were quite a few of them.

They sell tons of high quality used performance parts and accessories for dirt cheap like Bride racing seats for 15000 yen.

cool thanks. I can speak and read a little japanese but searching the net is 1000 times harder. I wasn't able to find a site like that before for Japan. Dude they have a huge website. They have a few stores in every prefecture around me, so worse case I can drive about 2 hours away. But my friend and I want to do the work ourselves so maybe they can ship. just in a few minutes of browsing I already found the CAI I was shopping for for 1man (about 100 US) cheaper. cool!!!
