1st Day With My New, Improved SS Tranny

Well the title pretty mch says it all. I finally have my Prelude back, it's been a long 7 weeks. Here's what I had done-

-Level Ten PTS Kit
-Upgraded torgue converter (from a place that charges $200 less than Level Ten for the same damn thing)
-One big bill racked up

Results-

Basically the car is quite a bit quicker of the line. However the shifts are a little choppier than stock, but this makes sense obviously with the upgraded clutches. SSAccuracy hit the nail on the head when he said that the gears chatter a little bit at cruising speed, but the difference is well worth the smoothness.

Overall, it seems like a great mod right now, of course I only have put on about 60 miles so far. Time will tell how it holds up.

best of luck with the mods. I wish I could follow in your guys foot steps, but I have no faith in my tranny. Not even Level Ten could save it.

The grand total for all of the tranny work is as follows-

$320 for Level Ten PTS kit shipped
$420 for upgraded TC w/ nextday shipping both ways
$1065 for shop rebuild labor and 2 new CV boots

$1805 total for my new tranny

(course that doesnt include the other $1000 I had to put into it for tranny parts that got messed up when the original tranny went)

So you can get an upgraded tranny for about $1800, actually about $1700 if you cut out my overnight shipping stuff. Thats a hell of a lot better than Level Tens $3200 w/ shipping they quoted me. They can go fly a kite. They also say they throw in a valve body job too, but obviously you pay for and the gains seen from a valve body job are minimal. How do I know this? I had mine replaced, and seen it and talking with my Honda tranny guy there are only minimal gains to be had from it.

Congrats!!

You'll love it.

btw, i'm at 4,000miles on the tranny and the chattering has gotten 90% less compared to day 1. This is when you need to flush the ATF because the clutches comfortably settling...

Take that bad boy to 3000+rpms brake torquing it, and whaaaaaaaaaa!

peace
