Hi was wondering if rims with these specifications: 18 x 7.5, 5x100/5x114.3, 42mm offset, would fit on a 2001 LOWERED (by about 2") prelude. Don't know tire specifications yet, waiting for seller's response, but what's the recommended size tire needed that would cause NO rubbing what so ever? Thanks guys!
In that case, I still wouldn't recommend those wheels. They will be drivable with the right tires, but they will rub if you don't roll your fenders. Once upon a time, I had wheels with the same specs on 225/45/18 tires, and I was only lowered about an inch at the time. My tires rubbed the fenders in the back when I went over a bump, and they rubbed the wheel wells in the front when turning.
It takes a lot of the fun out of owning a great handling car when taking turns at speed makes your tires rub.

X2 When i first got my prelude, it had 18 in. rims on it with stock ride height and they rubbed as well, got a lot of shiny spots in my wheel wells and it just about killed my lower ball joints for some reason. Im downgrading to a 16in. Plus people think your trying to "dunk" it out? (have no idea what this means but has been told to me on a number of occasions) Mine are cheap 18 in. ICW Kobe's
probably be okay with a 215/35/18 tire. I would try to stay within a 45-48 offset. With a 48 you could run a 225/35/18 which looks a lot better on 18" rims and the prelude.
Yeah, that would probably work, but I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. A 35 series tire is tiny. Just look at a pothole wrong and you'll bend a rim.
I'd also be willing to bet that there are few tires available in that size, and the few that are available are probably overly expensive. I had a hard enough time finding decent tires available in 225/40/18's when I was looking for them.
Thanks for your help guys! Don't want to take the chance of rubbing so think going to look for 17" to stay on the safe side, anyone know where to find black rims with good tires for $500 maximum?
Do you still have to drive carefully at bumps and such and take turns carefully?
like I said no other problems, but still recommended tire profile with 17 wheels is 40 with lowering (those are my winter tires so I had to go with 45)
I ALWAYS drive carefully at bumps with lowered car...
