My front end got hit, and we settled it outside of insurance. I gave her father an estimate of what it would cost to replace the front bumper and repair the hood and re-paint it. Then i told him i would rather buy a different front bumper and that i would search ebay and stuff. Plus a CF hood would be cheaper than repairing the hood plus re-painting it. All which is true (I get CF hoods at cost from work )
Question is, if you had $1050, what would you buy if you had to replace or repair the front end of your car? (just the bumper and hood, no fenders ("thank *someone*")
I was thinking a VIS Mugen front bumper and CF hood. That would probably take me to the limit of the money i would recieve. I would then get the bumper painted out of pocket.
I was also thinking buy a front bumper add a lip kit and just repair hood and repaint all.
Any other ideas? I want to be as honest as possible to this gentleman. I feel realyl bad about his luck. But not bad enough to not get it fixed.
i say, buy a stock bumper, paint it, get and OEM lip. Then get the VIS CF hood. Thats just what i like...

I found a hood and bumper for sale for $300 TOTAL! Its a Mugen replica (like the VIS). Its urethane and the hood is oem but it has the wings west thingy on it. Both need paint/prep. But that wount cost more than $700 painted and bought and stuff. So yar.
What else? Maybe leave the car alone, get the front end fixed, and just re-paint the whole car? I am thinking about glossy black. I would pay the rest out of pocket of course.

Whatcha think?
hate to burst your bubble but I don't think they make a urethane mugen kit. All I have seen is fiberglass.

honestly, i would have gone for the oem bumper. That is by far the best quality bumper as far as strength. And your only short changing yourself by not getting a stock front end. what if you wanna sell down the road, your gonna want to be as stock as possible and you will have to get an oem front. Which are expensive. Since your not liable for costs, i would get a new front bumper with oem lip. that will run you no more than 1000. hoods are like 300 and thats retail, you said you get cost so maybe its not that much for oyu. I just looked up how much a front bumper is and its only 175. Get oem lip, even brand new is 155 or so. You'll have to get the lip painted cause i think the only colors left are nighthawk black and ebp from handaacessories.com. Get all that painted and your under your 1050 mark by far. And i bet with the extra money you can get something else too.

^^thanks. I am looking for a full lip kit on the site and ebay and stuff. I have a buddy selling an oem front bumper for $100 shipped and its already painted my color. Plus its in great shape. so that works well. as for the rest, i am looking at getting a new hood or gettting mine fixed, cant decide yet. the check should be coming here on monday or tuesday, so i can start ordering stuff then.
decided! I got a VIS CF hood and VIS mugen-replica front bumper. Painting the grill inlet black i believe. Can't decide on painting the CF hood or not...

"are strong like carbon fiber and flexible like poly urethane"
That particular bid is for GTP, which is fiberglass.
I realized that after i re-read everything, thanks though. I believe they are using something similair to FRP, fiberglass re-inforced plastic which i believe to be a "better" fiberglass. I set up with VIS as an official dealer, so i am buying all their stuff.
i am figuring $400 for the hood (gotta love dealer cost) and $250 for the front bumper. All that preped and painted would take me to or near my limit. I am thinking of keeping the hood unpainted and buying the entire kit. i cant make up my mind.
