You know what? You guys who think 100 bucks being too much money for an experience you don't deem worthwhile should still go to one of these events. You can just drive your car there or carpool with other po friends to be in the pit with all the other participants - without signing up!
You can even ask people for rides without a seperate observer fee. The only thing you gotta pay for besides gas is a 10 dollar gate fee per person, (NOT per car - and drivers still have to pay too). Since my car isn't going to be ready for the 17th, I'm going to be carpooling up with ludatic and buckwild and still have a hell of a good time up there riding along and soaking up seat time.
It's a good opportunity for first timers to ride along for a whole day to observe and see how fun lapping events are. Then come back the next event having a good idea about what to expect.
For anyone that enjoys "playing" in turns be it in winding canyon roads or a simple freeway onramp - imagine doing the same on a closed course with your friends and us PO guys. over 2 hours of seat time spread out comfortably throughout the day.
For newbs that are apprehensive to try it, there is a beginner group that moves at a VERY comfortable pace, and they put everyone in the group through a parade style formation that helps you get used to having cars around you. Most people that go to these redline lapping days are nice people that just want to have fun like you do. Ask them for tips or rides. Safe, fast fun.
Bleh, We need more enthusiasm from prelude guys. We need to show the other people there that prelude owners can drive!
Get out of work or somehow, let the boss know weeks ahead of time and ask for the day off so you can entertain some relatives that are coming in for the weekend. I don't know, make up something that would be understandable to not go to work for.
