Pretty late in the game OHPOC has taken the reigns and planned an NPM for 07 when it looked like it wasn't going to happen. Nobody could decide where to hold it and after months of bickering in large threads, we stepped up and put together one of the most involved, low cost, and centrally located NPM’s.
We have a road course track day on Thursday for only $100. We are going to be the first group to ever rent the not yet finished Million dollar drag racing facility in Mansfield for only $25 a person for the entire day. Then we are going to hold the show portion of the event during the Grand Am racing series @ Mid Ohio Raceway (Hondas own racetrack) during a nationally covered import event, the Triple Crown Tuner Challenge which also includes an event where you can drive portions of Mid-Ohio flat out in a speed competition. We have lavish hotels set up, unique trophies and so on.
We have done the best we can in the very limited time that we have. However it appears there is no longer any interest in holding such an event. We have to give a $1600 non-refundable deposit to the road course by April 1st and we have NO ONE outside of OHPOC who has paid or registered for a single event. OHPOC has come out 10-15 cars deep to every NPM and this year few outside of OHPOC have even shown any certain dedication to coming.
From our perspective, the event feels dead in the water. We have most of the items put together except one key part, the people who attend the event. With so little commitment it is hard for our members to continue to put effort into the event with no insurance that others will attend. It has come to the point where we are not sure if NPM 07 will follow through. If as a community we can't pull off one this cheap and involved in the heart of where all the people who have participated in past NPMs are located, what chance does this event ever have of happening again??? We want to thank everyone who put together NPMs in the past and for giving us a foundation to build upon, it is unbelievably hard no doubt.
We want this to happen, so help us by showing you want it to happen.
I made a video of sorts of previous NPMs in case people forgot how much fun these were.
If you guys are really interested in going, email us at npm_07@yahoo.com
Just tell us what events you want to attend.
Here's the video I made of past events, lets make this happen so we can add another year to it
BTW, I'm looking at your prices, and this is definitely not the least expensive NPM ever. The track day price may be, but $30 for the banquet, $25 for the show, $25 for the dyno, and then a still as of yet unnannounced price for the drag day, your at $180 + whatever the drag day costs. I don't remember last years costs, but I don't think it was that far off.
Plus the late start and the fact that your website isn't fully functional. I know you guys are working on it and there have been a lot of bugs, but for example, you need to fix the link to the registration page. It has an extra / in it and results in a broken link.
We are trying to post this everywhere. The banquet costs us $1 less than we are charging, per person ,so we can't go any cheaper on that. Last years track day was $155, We priced ours so that hopefully everyone would register earlier, um not so much. Thanks for the helpful words Scott...we are not the most internet saavy group, well at least Im not. So changing things have been difficult for us. The forum loss was devistating to this event. I will get link fixed tonight.
Travis, We love you. Thanks for your donation.
There will be an NPM no matter what! The track day is whats concerning us at this point. We do have other options if the Thursday "NPM only" track day doesn't reach necessary participation. It will be moved to Friday the 22nd and the cost will go up $20/person. If it comes to that, you will have the option to pay an additional $20 or get a refund. It will be open to the public as well.
This is sad to hear. I would go ahead and pay up if I knew I could make it for sure. I still don't know if I will be able to get off work this far ahead.
As I mentioned in the other thread, I honestly don't think everyone knows about NPM this year. In the past, the thread was placed in the Off-Topic section and it was much more visible. A lot of people in NTPOG didn't even know we were having an NPM until I brought it up.

It was mostly meant to be constructive criticism, not harsh words. This would be my fourth NPM. No malicious treatment was intended.
You guys are just in a really tough position to pull this through mainly because of how late of a jump you got on it. How many spots are you trying to sell? I know there will be a couple from the NE. I would go in my Z, Ryan would track his S60R, I think Kurt will be there in his Prelude, Kirill in his G35c, TJ in the Lotus, etc.
What you may have to do is, like last year, open it other makes. Maybe if you know some people outside the Prelude circle.
You also have to factor in people are getting older, getting cars they may not want/can't track, or are starting families.
Hopefully we can pull this off, seems like some good events planned.
Edit - So you need $1600 to put in as a deposit, but what about after that? Will you get that money as a refund if you can't get enough people to cover the costs? The Track Day is what I always look forward to at NPM.
your money will be refunded if there is no track day, but there will be a track day ) it just might not be NPM only...it will be open to the public as well unless we can get about 10 more registered by 4/1
